Ignoring Intel Report-WH Releases Fact Sheet on Iraq’s Links to al Qaeda
Ignoring Senate Intel Report-WH Releases ‘Fact Sheet’ on ‘Iraq’s Links to Al Qaeda’

On September 8, the Senate Intelligence Committee — chaired by Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) — released a report examining Iraq’s pre-war links to al-Qaeda. Here’s what they concluded:

…Saddam Hussein was distrustful of al-Qa’ida and viewed Islamic extremists as a threat to his regime, refusing all requests from al Qa’ida to provide material or operational support…Saddam issued a general order that Iraq should not deal with al Qa’ida. No postwar information suggests that the Iraqi regime attempted to facilitate a relationship with bin Ladin.

Days later, the White House has released this “fact sheet“:

When will the administration stop misleading the American public?

1. "When will the administration stop misleading the American public?"
They won't. The neocon administration lies as a reflex. They lie to themselves. They lie even when he truth would not damage them. Lies are their stock in trade. They will always lie because it's just what they do. If they stopped lying they would be swept out of office in a tide of outrage, so they just add new lies to prop up the old ones every day.

And people continue to buy it.

2. The lemmings need to be fed
The ignorant, religiously insane, constitution hating zealots just love to be lied to by republicans. They are sick and tired of liberals beating them over the head with the truth so the fucking scum of the earth who comprise bush's base need more talking points because left to their own devices, research skills and intellectual curiousity(not) they come up with nothing they'd like to believe. rove knows this and his power is the ignorance of those who support bush to this day.

Please bush supporters, let me know how wrong I am. Fucking bush sucking jerkoffs, who do not deserve the constitutional liberties provided them by liberals like Jefferson and Madison.

5. When will the administration stop misleading the American public?
This will happen only when the American public boots the administration out. They lie and spin and deceive because they know they can get away with it. MSM is helping them do it, too. This administration knows a lot of the American people are complacent and lazy. They do not consider what effect their actions have on others.

We should be very thankful that our nation's forefathers were the ones who had to face founding a new country, and fighting in order to form it the way they saw fit. If we had to do the same today, no one would show up to fight!

I'm ashamed that so many Americans today are so self-centered that they don't realize what is being taken away from them. They want someone else to do the dirty work, while they support communist countries by shopping at Wal-Mart, foreign corporations by buying foreign cars, and say nothing when their rights and liberties are being stripped from them by the people they foolishly voted for to represent them.

It's really shameful. I'm going to start calling them American Lites. They want all the benefits of being an American, with none of the work.

7. UNBELIEVABLE!
They just refuse to admit they lied, don't they?

I hope they aren't allowed to get away with this for very long. A nice, big smackdown around the middle of next month would do nicely. :7

8. This White House is not interested in facts. That's why we're in Iraq.
That's why we'll be in Iran. That's why the world laughs and fears us.

10. all of the issues have a nexus: al-Libi was tortured to provide the al-Q
Queda link...turns out his tortured testimony was proffered with the specific purpose of ending his treatment--none of it true and all of it coerced.

Yet the Corp Media (encouraging an earnest debate of these matters) fails to mention al-Libi and his false/coerced tortured testimony as part of the discussion....odd!!!

11. No one is misleading us; the White House link is written in Bushese
Edited on Wed Sep-20-06 12:10 PM by Jack Rabbit
For those who don't know, Bushese, like Newspeak, is a branch of the Owellian language family, just as English is a branch of the Indo-European family.

Bushese grammar is very difficult to decipher. It seems that what Mr. Bush and Mr. Tenet (who is also very fluent in Bushese) are trying to say is that the link between Saddam and al Qaida exists in their minds and that is what makes it real.

The Full Context Of The President's Quote Shows That He Was NOT Drawing An Operational Link Between Al Qaida And Saddam But Was Making The Point That Both Posed Threats To The World. QUESTION: "Mr. President, do you believe that Saddam Hussein is a bigger threat to the United States than al Qaida?" THE PRESIDENT: "That's a - that is an interesting question. I'm trying to think of something humorous to say. But I can't when I think about al Qaida and Saddam Hussein. They're both risks, they're both dangerous. The difference, of course, is that al Qaida likes to hijack governments. Saddam Hussein is a dictator of a government. Al Qaida hides, Saddam doesn't, but the danger is, is that they work in concert. The danger is, is that al Qaida becomes an extension of Saddam's madness and his hatred and his capacity to extend weapons of mass destruction around the world. Both of them need to be dealt with. The war on terror, you can't distinguish between al Qaida and Saddam when you talk about the war on terror. And so it's a comparison that is - I can't make because I can't distinguish between the two, because they're both equally as bad, and equally as evil, and equally as destructive." (President George W. Bush, Remarks In A Photo Opportunity With Colombian President Uribe, Washington, DC, 9/25/02)

Mr. Bush appears is saying that both Saddam and Osama are villains, therefore there is a link between them. Does does not have to mean that the two men liked each other or even spoke to each other. To translate the Bushese into English, they working in concert means they are alike in some way.

Of course, since Saddam and Osama are alike in that both are mass murderers, one could also say that Bush and Saddam and Osama are alike in some way, or to translate it into Bushese, Bush and Saddam and Osama work in concert.

Tenet Testified That Iraq Was Providing Safe Haven To Al Qaida. SEN. CARL LEVIN (D-MI): "Would you say, Mr. Tenet, that the Zarqawi terrorist network is under the control or sponsorship of the Iraqi government?" TENET: "I don't know that, sir, but I know that there's a safe haven that's been provided to this network in Baghdad." LEVIN: "So you're not - well, you're saying that you don't know if they're under the support - that they are under the control or direction?" TENET: "Yes, sir. We have said - what we've said is Zarqawi and this large number of operatives are in Baghdad. They say the environment is good. And it is inconceivable to us that the Iraqi intelligence service doesn't know that they live there or what they're doing." (George Tenet, Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 2/11/03)

Let's translate this from Bushese. Iraq is providing a safe haven to al Qaida simply Mensa members of al Qaida are located in Iraq and the Iraqi government know it. If one does not realize that the first statement is Bushese rather than English, one might get the idea that this means that the Iraqi government is supporting al Qaida. Tenet was attempting to translate Bushese into English for Senator Levin. So he begins by saying the doesn't know that Iraq is sponsoring al Qaida, and then says that (again translating from Bushese into English) that Zarqawi is in Baghdad and that most likely Saddam knew he was there. He just didn't make it clear that the Bushese original didn't say that Saddam approved of Zarqawi.

Now let's practice some Bushese.

English: Dope peddlers are located in Washington, DC and the Bush administration is aware of this. Dope peddlers are bad people, just like Bush, who violates the Geneva Conventions and plunges his nation into a costly, unnecessary war.

Bushese: The Bush administration is providing a safe haven for dope peddlers. Bush works in concert with dope peddlers.

Simple, right?
