What keeps you going?
I admit this isn't definitive - but I posted yesterday a poll which asked if the 2006 election was already stolen. 70.3% were either sure it was stolen or thought it was stolen (results here --> http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2173026&mesg_id=2173026

Assuming you believe that what is your reponse? (For the record I concede the possibility that the election might already be stolen, but I don't believe that it is).

A few possibilities present themselves.

1. Disinterest. If we are going to lose anyway, why not forstall sending that check off to my local candidate and get Battlestar Galactaca Season 2 instead. If we've already lost, why play the game?

2. Revolution. Once the Bushes blatently steal this election, the people will be so angry we can get them to rise up, and overthrow this state. We need to be ready for this now.

3. Good Sports. We still need to play and play hard so that it exposes the deception and cheeting of the Republicans. We might not be able to take back our country right now, but we can leave a legacy for those who one day will.

I doubt these are the only responses, of course - what other responses could there be?

2. An often-cited quote from someone who inspires me...
to stand as a candle in the darkness.

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall - think of it, always." Mohatma Mohandas K. Gandhi.

5. Thanks for that quote. here's mine:
"Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't, then you are wasting your time on Earth." - Roberto Clemente

Win or lose, I will always strive for what I think is right. I'll still go and vote even if it got to the point that they laugh and me and throw my vote in the trash.

"Play and play hard to expose the deception." We have no other choice. I'd rather not think of this struggle in terms of sports though. That's weighting it far too lightly. Fight and fight hard-- is more like it. We are going to have to pay close attention to how this election is conducted.

If so many here believe that they will try once again to steal it (and I agree they will try)-- then we are going to have another excellent opportunity to see how they are doing it. We need to gather evidence. And then we need to continue to push for fair and transparent elections, no matter what the outcome in November.

Try not to put this in expedient "either/or" terms so dependent on what happens in November. Think outside the box.
