Republican: it's not just a political party anymore
I got home from shopping a couple of hours ago. Wee hours of the morning, virtually zero traffic out there. Yet down one long street I was followed closely by a pickup.

I first noticed this guy (the silhouette looked like a guy) long after I'd come through a light. I had slowly got up to the speed limit, which is 50mph, and he was gaining on me. For the last 3/4's of a mile he was right on my tail, bright headlights filling my rear view mirror. I intentionally slowed down to 45 to tell him I knew he was there and wasn't going to break the speed limit for him.

When the next light came I made a righthand turn. He rode my tail all the way, then really shocked me by zooming out into an oncoming lefthand turn lane to overtake me. In a matter of moments he was nothing but a pair of tiny red tail-lights way down the street. That's how fast he was going.

Now here's the point of my little story. Usually when somebody pulls a lunkhead maneuver like this I call them asshole, or stupid shit, or some other colorful expletive. The word that spilled out of my mouth?

"Republican!"

Mind you, I had no idea what his political persuasion was. There was no 'W' in his back window. It just seemed natural.

Republican = lawbreaker.

:)

I'd like to invite everyone to start using 'Republican' this way, if you don't already. It's a satisfying label to apply to anyone who breaks the law in a rude and careless way.

3. A few years back, I had some jackoff yelling obscenities at me at a
red light ... over the heads of two of his young, impressionable kids ... some "family values" ... this did happen before 2000 ...

4. Got any liberal bumperstickers on your vehicle?
Sounds like he was trying to intimidate you.

5. Rear bumper's full of them
But this guy was more than a quarter mile behind me when I first noticed him turn onto the same road. By then I was doing 50mph, and he caught up to me before I got another quarter of a mile. So you see, he was breaking the law before he could read my stickers.

6. You should have just let him pass, he may have been a liberal
in a hurry.

Besides, it seems to be mostly Republicans that do assholish stuff like intentionally slow someone else down in traffic.

7. I wasn't obstructing him
And I don't give a rat's ass what the political persuasion of the driver was. I was doing the speed limit until he chose to dangerously ride my tail at two o'clock in morning on a badly lit rural street. And he had no problem performing another illegal move to get around me when we both turned at the next light.

The point of my story is that I now equate reckless lawbreaking by anyone with Republicans.
