Did Cooper buy the CNN Network or what ?
Jayzus, every time you turn on the channel, there he is. He's like a burn-in on one of the old gas plasma tv's. Can't get rid of him. He was even a guest on King tonight.

I think the only person that's on more often is Everybody Loves Raymond reruns.

I personally can't stand him. I find him to say the least self adulating and the way he wheezes, he sounds like he needs an atomizer.

Does he have pictures of the CNN execs with some barn animals or what?

2. he says "uh" a lot for a professional broadcaster
But he seems like a decent fellow. It was weird to hear him on talk shows talking about his mother's fondness for cunnilingus.

3. Do you notice how he wheezes?
He sounds like a squeeze toy.

He's the one that bumped Aaron Brown too. No soup for him.

4. I can't say I noticed that
But I don't really watch him much. I'm sure it'll be the first thing I notice now that you've pointed it out. Does he have asthma?

(BTW, I have a cousin that has a huge crush on Anderson. She was crushed when she heard that he's gay.)

13. Very few women DON'T have a fondness for it, but talking about
your mother enjoying it? Odd.

5. He's Their "Skud Stud"...It's About Reaching A Younger Demo
Somewhere on some suit's desk at CNN corporate are the "Q" ratings...a number of a person's TV "likeability". This is used by ad agencies when they look for a "pitchman" for a corporation...and its used extensively in marketing TV shows. CNN's spent a lot of money hoping Cooper can bring in a young audience none of the other shows can. My bets are CNN has reems of studies that show Cooper's the man who will lasso all those 18-34 viewers over...a group none of the news networks do well with. The only network that DOES do well with that Demo is Comedy Central.

CNN has banked a lot on Cooper with mixed results. He was a "star" after his NOLA coverage, but it hasn't transfered over into the ratings CNN had hoped for. They moved out Aaron Brown and all but put Paula Zahn in limbo...banking on Cooper and the jury is still out (or at least as far as CNN is concerned).

I rarely watch him. By the time he comes on, it's 9pm here and i'm "newsed out"...or I'm watching the local channel. After being around the tube, radio and internet all day and getting more information than my addled brain can handle, by the time Olbermann plays Oddball I've had enough of the cable news noise for the day.

Cheers...

6. Ten to one people are tuning him out.
If you had lobster every day, day in and day out, you'd get tired of it. And he sure ain't in the league with lobster. Not even snow crab.

7. This Isn't Even Mrs. Paul's Fishsticks
I'm not in the "demo", so I "don't get it". Cooper is a decent reporter, but he's surely not in the echelons of a Murrow or even Bernie Shaw.

But he sure does look "cute"...or so I'm told.

8. Bernie was truly great.
Did you happen to see him when they were broadcasting the riot at Tienanmen Square? He was in the hotel room and the Chinese came in and ordered them to turn their cameras off. He was genuinely scared to death and gave play by play as it was happening.

It was riveting! Some of the best broadcasting I've ever seen.

9. The Thing About Shaw...
is everytime I heard Bernard Shaw or Bernie Shaw, I was expecting a dead Irish playwright! I'm so used to "Bernard Shaw" being a white man with a beard I never got used to CNN's Bernard Shaw.

11. I was impressed by his coverage of Katrina as well...
but the aftermath of Katrina goes on without the cameras. :( I had really thought we would see a bit of a turn in the media after that.
