My fellow DUers, I sense that the tide has turned and that the evil
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 11:22 PM by Texas Explorer
that has consumed our land is on the verge of being exposed and exorcised. I'm reminded of the following refrain:

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know I can see through your masks.

-Bob Dylan

1. Maybe.
But humanity has proved countless times to be capable of far greater depravities than this bunch has so far managed to bring about. I fear they're just getting warmed-up. To paraphrase Richard Feynmann, there's plenty of room at the bottom.

19. Absolutely right.
None of the protests will make any difference if they're not covered.

The press in beginning to awaken from its slumber and we have Kieth Olbermann telling the truth.

The so-called president is beginning to squirm under the pressure of not only the 66%ers but also his own party loyalists are turning on him and PNAC handlers have got him leading us into war with Iran.

The political races around the country are beginning to form a throw-the-bums-out pattern, with Democrats the beneficiaries of that anger.

I could go on but my keyboard is loud and my s/o is trying to sleep...hehe.

14. I've learned never to overestimate the sheer stupidity of the American
electorate. Look at the latest USA Today/Gallup poll. And look at the media coverage of that, reinforcing it. There are too many types who will look at bush's recent hissy fits and interpret that (with a whole lot of encouragement and reinforcement from hate radio and outfits like Pox "news") as forceful, gutsy, powerful, brave, direct, and "you know where he stands." I hope you're correct. But until I actually see that it's in the bag, I'm not sure. Besides, there's a LOT more reason for the bad guys to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to stay in power, in view of more talk about IMPEACHMENT and war crimes and violating the law 50 ways from Sunday. AND apparently they're warming up in the bullpen for action against Iran in early October, which will distract like nobody's business, unfortunately.

16. They OWN the press.
The entire MSM is not going to wake up one morning and suddenly realise they have been supporting a complete jackass and perform an about face.

There is a reason why the media shilled for the RW in 2004, they played up the 'moral' issues as a cover for the steal. You saw how they banged the drums for the march to Iraq. You watch, when it matters, the media is right there with Bush, catapulting away.

13. The tide will turn.
Maybe not today, or even tomorrow, but it will, it is certain. Take this wisdom from Gandhi:

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall - think of it, always.
-Mohandas Gandhi

23. That's the truth
I remember seeing it a lot during the 2004 election. Famous last words. :( Given the chicanery of the Right it's hard for me to ever feel a tide is turning.

24. I agree.
I've sensed a wind change, slumbering giants waking up, instant Karma on the march - seems like everything is speeding up, except for war which they want to be eternal, the biggest bank in the world gets drained forever.

A little Instant Karma for Bush wouldn't be so bad and would give people a lot of hope. I only wished the UN folks hadn't thrown the Putz a party, instead I wanted them all to neatly file OUT as he gave his speech until there was only an empty room and the thin sound of a Tin Dictator flapping his lamprey lips in the breeze.

But I do agree, something's up, the wheels are turning, rusty, but gaining speed :)
