20% turnout for MA primary

Of REGISTERED voters....

Pathetic. Really sorry and sad. And, I love my family dearly, but they all called and asked me to who to vote for...You pay attention to this stuff...Tell me what to do, they said....

I appreciate their confidence in me, but I don't WANT to dictate another's vote. I am happy to inform and discuss, but they were just being plain lazy.

Why don't people care?

So sad...

1. 20% Is A Good Turnout for a Primary
you work with the voters you have, not the ones you wish you had......

7. Sorry. It is pathetic.
100 people

50% of people who are eligible are registered at all...

So HALF the people do not vote at all....

50 people

20% of 50 people

10 people..........Out of the hundred that are eligible decide the race.

Kudos to the ten. What the hell is wrong with the other 90?

3. Wisconsin's was about 16%...
Getting people out to vote in November is going to be a challenge. Yeah, people are pissed. But they are also lazy and/or think they don't have time to vote.

When I voted, I walked to the polls nearby. I ran into some neighbors (stay-at-home moms) who were going out for their afternoon pre-Oprah walk (I'm guessing). One asked how I was and I said I was on my way to vote. All four (who had plenty of time to vote) just walked on and I'm assuming, didn't vote.

They are "too busy"...

11. What a load of CRAP...

Too busy.

People can take four hours a night to watch television, but can't invest a fraction of that time to decide who is going to govern?

And, I voted today. No lines. No wait. The place was EMPTY (granted it was mid-day, but STILL)...

5 minutes. Probably less.

4. That's not too bad, actually...
Here in Indiana, our May Primary Election saw the turn-out hover about 11%.

6. That is sad.
Frustrates the hell out of me when people - lazy and indifferent - don't exercise the most important obligation they have in this country. No wonder we're where we are. ;(

8. Half of that 20% will choose the candidate...
...and that's the saddest part. We get a 10%er. Whoop-de-freakin-do.

9. 20% is Huge For a Primary !!!!
That's usually the percent for the General Election in November.

That's good news.
