2. Nice fantasy, but will never happen. Therefore, pointless to speculate.

9. I'm not a silly rabbit. I'm an obilvous guy. Youtube wasn't working for
me for some reason, so I took a chance by replying to the subject of the thread rather than its contents.

See what I mean by oblivious? but hey, it's durn nice to know someone's paying attention and reminding me when I perform posts of standout obliviosity.

Don't think for a moment that I don't appreciate it.

damn close second.

16. Brilliant!
I saw part of the Dem Committee investigating Halliburton this morning. Made me absolutely sick, and not just the testimony. I already knew what Halliburton/KBR have been up to over in Iraq. Well-versed in it.

What made me absolutely sick was the lack of Republican presence (falls under the all too familiar heading of "What would happen if you wanted to hold an investigation and the GOP refused?").

And then there was the restrained response from the Dems.

Where one would expect righteous outrage -- after all, we are talking about the systematic mis-appropriation of taxpayers' money by Halliburton and at the very least negligent homicide -- there was a definite and underwhelming "tut-tut" feeling from the panel.

And yes, it matters. Because Americans want to know that someone in government is feeling as outraged about the corruption under Bush** as they are. They want to know that someone is going to finally DO something about it, or at least give voice to their rage.

I don't know how many different ways it can be said: the Dems need to come out swinging. The Republicons aren't going to hand them anything. If they don't take advantage of clear-cut serious matters like this and find it in themselves to rally some genuine old-fashioned fury, then the outlook for this entire country is bleak.

19. I saw Harry Reid arrived late, and they asked him if he wanted
to say anything when he first arrived, he declined. What the hell was he supposed to say. He just got there. I didn't see the wrap. Were questions asked?

21. We watched from about 8:40 to 9 a.m. or thereabouts
I didn't see Reid, but questions were asked. Dorgan said they didn't have time to listen to all the taped testimony (which apparently was only 5 minutes long).

Maybe it's just me, but what I saw from the panel was just another disheartening display of non-definitive disapproval. Perhaps I didn't get to watch long enough.

The only person there who was really fired up and well-spoken about it was a guy by the name of Sanchez, I think, who was providing evidence about how his convoy came under attack after being told to leave the compound, despite the roads being categorized as 'red' or 'black' for TOO DANGEROUS, NO TRAFFIC. He was injured. Others in the convoy were killed.

I begin to wonder if the only way to get through to people about what's happening with government approval is to place them in the situation they condone or shrug off and see how they feel about it afterwards. Empathy and compassion seem in short supply these days.

22. I am torn about the guys positions as they chose to go their for
money, but it certainly points to the dastardly Halliburton management. I watched several men testify. Some looked like the type that were giant mellonheads who went there to "see action" tough types who are now whining about what they got themselves into knowingly got themselves into and it's called a war. People get killed in war, that's now secret, so what were they thinking? Money? I'd say so, by the warchest full!

25. Yes, I understand
But just like with our troops, why these guys found themselves over there doesn't excuse the crimes being carried out by those above them. Yes, they made themselves a cog in the machine, but this is about Halliburton/KBR taking advantage of them and the unending supply of taxpayer dollars from BushCo. And legally, that's where the focus should stay.
