"Keep 'em stupid and scared" is the formula. The corporate media have been working hand in hand with the Republicans for quite a while to deliver a childlike public who are ignorant and spoiled and will run to "daddy" any time he tells them their little world is threatened by a bogeyman.

The Democrats are losing this battle because they won't join it by aggressively seeking and defending the truth. That's the core of it.
