Texas Governor Poll: Perry only has 35%, Kinky in 2nd with 23%
http://keyetv.com/topstories/local_story_262120615.html

exclusive CBS42/SurveyUSA election poll shows incumbent Gov. Rick Perry would win only 35 percent of the vote if the election were held today. But that's more than his opponents, and therefore would be enough for him to be re-elected.

Perry's 35 percent today is identical to the 35 percent support Perry received in SurveyUSA's most recent pre-election tracking poll, released June 26.

All four leading candidates -- Perry, Democrat Chris Bell, Independent Kinky Friedman and Independent Carole Keeton Strayhorn -- are polling in double digits. With seven weeks until Election Day, Bell and Friedman are tied for second place, both with 23 percent; Strayhorn gets 15 percent. Compared to SurveyUSA's June poll, Bell is up 3 points, Friedman is up 2 points and Strayhorn is down 4 points.

2. I wish Richard would just get the hell out of the picture.
Fuck "Kinky".

He is going to screw up the whole thing.

Selfish, narcissistic bastard.

I have known him for a long time and believe me when I tell you that I know not a single instance of him ever doing anything for anyone where his interests were not front and center.

I refuse to speak to the snarky little asshat. Never again.

3. The bad thing is that now our votes are
split... I think Perry could easily be beat because he's been a horrible governor & most people are sick of him, but the votes 'against' him are too split up. And Strayhorn running as an independent when she's a repub... it's all such a joke at this point. A joke we can't afford.

4. Yes, and it's no accident
They knew Perry would be a voted out on his ass, and all of a sudden Kinky decides to get serious about his campaign.

If not for Kinky in the mix Bell would have a nice solid lead right now. As it is, Perry may actually pull it off.

5. It does seem as though the Kinky candidacy is designed entirely to
keep TX gov'ship Republican at a very vulnerable time, doesn't it?

7. Not entirely, but it is being used to the fullest by more than Kinky
TominTib is right about Kinky's ego needing fed and him getting off on all the attention. Not to mention the fact that he's getting free publicity toward his next book. He was the perfect person for the job. Not the job as governor of Texas, but rather the job of screwing Chris Bell's campaign all to hell and paving the way for an otherwise unpopular incumbent to be reelected.

I've had a difficult time restraining my sharp tongue when I face supporters of Kinky.

I just cannot believe that anyone would vote for him in such a serious campaign.

If he was running for Mayor of Luckenbach it would be a different story.

I was at Poor David's Pub in Dallas when Richard first told me he was going to run for Governor.

He was laughing and going on about how he was gonna fuck up everything and make Texas politics look like the jangled-up mess that it is.

What he is going to accomplish is GoodHair's re-election.

The fact that it has gone this far is astonishingly tragic.

Chris Bell could win a one on One race with Perry but the so called Independt candiates are going to
reelect him. But,this should be considered progress In Texas that to win Perry needed Independt candiates to do It.

10. That's what I figured.
Those who are more influenced by beer than the realities of life.

I have been away from Texas for three years now but my friend David van Os has been keeping me informed. David is the guy Texas really needs.

11. I will cast enchantments to make Texas voters elect Chris Bell
as their next governor.

Perry's terrible, Friedman's well, not what I had in mind. Strayhorn? Nah.

I like Bell. I wish enough Texans did to give him that job in November.
