Gas will be under $2 a gallon by the election
Make book on it. Notice the dramatically falling prices at the pump? Can there be any rational explanation other than the prices are being artifically manipulated by the Bush buddies at the oil cartel and oil companies? They want to take the high price of energy off the table as an election issue and will succeed since most people are too dumb to see the handwriting on the wall.
To this you might add some friendly intervention from the Federal Reserve which is pumping lots of liquidity into the market to keep interest rates down and drive cash into the hand of the stock traders at the major Wall Street banks so they can keep on buying stock and pump up the market. The whole frikkin economy right now is nothing but a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

1. Just Enough To Fool The MORONS
There are more than enough MORONS who will fall for this trick. One thing you can count on is the consistency of the Amerikan people, which is why the repubs will probably STEAL another one while nobody is looking. Or at least those who are will just be marginalized.

11. One would think that such MORANS...
would be voting for the Moran-in-Chief and his band of merry thieves anyway, and would be fooled by whatever trick they pulled out of their hat. One would also think that not many people would change their vote based on this one factor; my thoughts on election day will be "thanks for the cheap gas. Now get your ass out of office and go home!"

One would think...

2. The oil industry made record multi-billion dollar profits this year
and received multi-billion dollar tax cuts from the GOP in the 2005 Energy Bill.

They have the cash on hand to take a temporary hit in revenue to fuck with the election.

And they will get away with it...

" An unusually hard winter will deplete the excess of fuel" .... or some B.S. to that effect!

7. oil
You are right, after the elections, oil will go up dramatically, and they will blame it on the
curvature of the Earth, or they will blame it on the mating habits of the fruit fly.

4. Sure does look like it. They don't even bother trying to hide it anymore
They know that there is very little danger to them from pissing on the Imperial Subjects of Amerika, and there are only a handful of things they can't do.

They don't worry about the Imperial Subjects of Amerika connecting the dots, and they have perception managment and propaganda at their most advanced in human history.

6. And this surprises you? . . .
If our candidates haven't made allowances for the Republicans gaming the issues, our candidates won't get elected. If there's no Plan B (or C, D. . . all the way to X, Y, Z) and our candidates are caught without a plan, well, then, they've planned to fail. It's not like someone needs to be a political brainiac or even versed in history -- this is what has happened time after time for every election I've been involved with (and I'm only 50), and anyone unable to adapt really has no business in politics.

There are a host of issues other than pocketbook concerns. (There's a history of recent energy scams and wildly fluctuating prices, if that's the issue someone has to run on.) If our candidates can't figure out a way to turn the debate to their advantage -- and this in a contest against arguably the worst Congress and the most incompetent, criminal President in our nation's history -- then they'll lose. I don't think they're going to -- the People are too consumed with a host of issues to place all their interest in the price of petrol, and too cynical not to see the obvious gaming -- so I believe the election will turn on issues other than the cost to fill a tank and the value of stocks.

Certainly low gas prices are meant to give a boost to Republican chances in November. But beyond that, I believe the oil companies are preparing for a potential Democratic takeover of one -- if not both -- Houses, and are lowering prices now to stave off investigations then. They know if Democrats take control they'll demand numerous investigations into BushCo's policies and failures. If the price of gas is low(er), they most likely hope to put off or even evade investigation, as the Democrats will have enough on their plate without re-visiting problems that have "self corrected." Witness the behavior of the Energy Pirates when Jeffords threw the Senate to the Democrats -- almost overnight, the "crisis" in the West disappeared and prices returned to previous levels.

8. Filled up this morning for $2.19
At this rate it will be $1 by election day.

(Still back to $3 by end of the year, though. Only suspense here is wondering what the excuse will be this time.)

I can't remember when it was below $2.00/gallon.

10. Then that means I've wasted hundreds of dollars on gas this year.
If the real value of gasoline is under 2 dollars, then someone (BP and Exxon) gouged the fuck outta me and I want to sue for illegal price fixing! All that money I could have spent on food, flushed down the drain in the name of greed. God, I hate what my country has become.

15. It'll be as low as it 'needs' to go.
No further. Then we'll hear about shortages 'created' by the changeover to home heating oil and some oil company CEOs will assuredly enjoy their year-end bonuses.
