Is defending the 22nd Amendment another reason to retake Congress?
From the memory hole:

"There’s been a lot of weird Neo-Con activity that would indicate that they would like to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution and run George Bush for a third term. This, to me, explains the sudden attack on PBS since it is the last vestige of a free press now that the various National papers and the big TV networks are held hostage by large corporations.

If you think I’m kidding here is a bill introduced in the house this February by both Democrats and Republicans including a Congressman from Wisconsin, Sensenbrenner as well as the Dem. House Whip, Hoyer. The bill has one article and one sentence only:

`The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is repealed.’.

I can only assume that either these Democrats are being blackmailed or they actually expect to run Clinton again. There is no other reason for their support. The real idea is to get George Bush in for a third term so he can continue his consolidation of power. It’s important to get rid of PBS in the meantime.

The general thinking concerning this initiative is that if the Conservatives can pick up a few more seats in 2006, they can go ahead with this scheme. There is no evidence that the Democrats are getting any traction for anything so this is quite likely."

2. Highly unlikely. Don't worry about it.
It would have to pass both houses and then be ratified by 75% of the states. A highly unlikely scenario to happen within the next year, as it would have to be ratified prior to the presidential campaign of 08. More like is that they will declare martial law and suspend elections in 08.

5. That was a popular bill in 1999, too.
Remember when they (certain wack-job Dems and Reps) wanted to remove the natural-born citizen requirement for president, so that Ahnold and Jennifer Granholm could run?

6. I'm up for repealing the 22nd amendment
The thing is, that amendment is anti-democratic in that it bars us from electing certain people President. Unfortunately, it would have no bearing on 2008. Wouldn't it be great if the Republicans were duty-bound to re-nominate Bush? We'd mop the floor with him after this disastrous term.

8. No way it could pass by 2008
But, it would be nice to have somebody that can put complete sentences together in the WH again - namely, Bill Clinton.

9. The number of states where * is above 50% approval are very few
Diebold would have to deliever hundreds and hundreds of electoral votes to reach 270.

Gore vs. Bush 2008 wouldn't even be close.

12. Not outside the realm of possibility but also not likely
It's a bit like Bush Suspending Elections for the duration of the crisis - possible, possibly even more likely than this scenario, but I don't rate it as a high probability, because they'd be laying the rhetorical groundwork more clearly. It's not like they have a problem getting their message out if they want to.
