TEHERAN - Iran on Tuesday complained that the United States had denied visas to 15 Iranian journalists who were to accompany President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the UN General Assembly in New York.

“The United States barred 15 journalists accompanying the president from entering. This is not the first time the United States has failed to live up to its commitment with regards to the United Nations,” state-run television said.

“We strongly criticize the United States abusing both its hosting of the United Nations and the visa lever... by limiting the visits by the accompanying delegation, the United States is practically weakening the UN,” foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

“It shows US weakness towards the free flow of information,” he said.

SNARK.

Freedom of the press is free as long as you agree with Bush.

War is peace, Freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength, (and now a new one to be included)... Torture is Safety.

4. The UN needs to move
I'd say that the poorest country on earth should inherit the UN HQ every 10 years,
and like the olympics, the UN could move in to town and build a new city that will
improve the local life intensely, and every 10 years move on and do it again, showing
that the UN is deeply aware of the tragedy that infects the majority of people on this
earth. New York is a failed setting, now that the US has gone nutty, its no longer
neutral ground to make resolutions. Rockefeller did a real coup by giving them that
building, it made his other property in manhattan worth 10fold, a smart business move,
but really must we design world history around one man's property deal.

11. Excellent idea.
I totally agree.
This US is no longer the place for fairness and impartiality.
It needs to move.
