Bush approval rating rebounds in new poll
Tue Sep 19 ----- This makes no sense, now an even # say the war in Iraq was not a mistake after everything that has come out. Unbelieveable.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's approval rating has rebounded to 44 percent, the highest level in a year, in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, the newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Bush's approval rating jumped five points from 39 percent in the previous poll conducted earlier this month. The bounce comes with seven weeks before elections to deicide control of Congress amid falling gas prices and a renewed campaign by Bush to boost support for the Iraq war and to portray Republicans as more competent than Democrats on security, the newspaper said. Bush's approval rating edged up largely on the strength of Republicans coming back to the fold with 86 percent saying they support him now, compared to 70 percent in May, USA Today said.

For the first time since December 2005, a majority of people polled did not say the war in Iraq was a mistake. The respondents were evenly split at 49 percent to 49 percent, the report said.

However, the poll finds that the Iraq war continues to be a problem for Bush. Sixty percent said he does not have a clear plan for handling Iraq and 75 percent said Iraq is in a civil war, USA Today said.

The telephone poll of 1,003 people was conducted September 15-17, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

1. Screw the polls
Ipsos (Harris?) is the only one worth any minor interest. The rest are bs.

There's enough REAL bad news out there. Don't let polls fake ya out.

6. I have no doubt that this is linked to much lower fuel prices ...
Sadly (sad because of all the incompetence and insanity of the Chimp and his cabal, this is what triggered a steep decline), the Chimps numbers didn't really go completely in the toilet until gas prices spiraled ... It doesn't surprise me that much of the myopic public are not so enraged by him now:(

8. I'm guessing this is where I'm supposed to say..
..these polls mean nothing and we should ignore them.

Then when election time rolls around and we get routed again we can just blame it all on the voting machines because that avoids having to admit that either A)there are large sections of really stupid, easily scared and impressionable voters in the country, or B) There just aren't enough people who believe what we believe or consider themselves liberal or Democratic for us to sufficiently win elections?

9. I don't doubt that by November they will be 49%
They must have a rational explanation of why the Republicans maintain control of the house and Senate. If they are going to steal it they must move the polls up.

10. September 11 "Feel Good" Poll
We were served up non-stop 9/11 anniversary for at least two weeks. Give it a couple more weeks and people will remember that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Although, I did hear an announcer on WBAL, the NBC station in Baltimore, say that another serviceperson from Baltimore was killed in the War on Terror in Iraq and that was just this morning. I was like--- WHATTTTT??????? So, maybe they got the memo.

12. Why do we only get complaints about the accuracy of polls
when they say something that we don't like?

Anyway what's the big deal? Before he was at 39% with a +/-3% margin of error. Now it reads 44% with the same margin of error. For all we know the true number has remained static at 41.5% this whole time.

14. But do you feel that the public is being managed for November?
This should be a simple to figure out and see for us common Joe's. Things are just rotten just about all over but there is obviously enough accumulated managed wealth and resources to make things look okay for awhile. The money grippers know how to make the Hell we are living in look only like only half a Hell so us common Joe's subconsciously think things are improving. I have heard that hey have been doing this for ever but personally know it's been going on like this for at least the twenty-six years I have been keeping track.

Just wait till after November, Hell will be wanting to be paid again, just wait

fact that we're at war, I think it's a rather pathetic headline for a president, that his popularity is only 'rising' to 44%. And this is just a one-time jump. He can't campaign on the graves 9/11 every week until election day.
