"My sin was accurately depicting Bill Clinton's record on terrorism"
This fucker STILL doesn't get it:

Author of 'Path to 9/11" Movie Hits Back at Media Coverage

By E&P Staff

Published: September 18, 2006 12:30 PM ET updated 12:50

NEW YORK Cyrus Nowrasteh, who penned the screenplay for the recent ABC miniseries “The Path to 9/11” – widely criticized for factual inaccuracies and concocted or conflated scenes –hit back today at critics, including reporters at The New York Times and Los Angeles Times.

His column, “The Path to Hysteria,” appears online today at the Wall Street Journal's site. Its subhed: "My sin was to write a screenplay accurately depicting Bill Clinton's record on terrorism."

The movie was edited at the last-minute under orders from ABC after the complaints of inaccuracies and alleged unbalanced treatment of the Clinton and Bush administrations, which came from liberals, former Clinton aides, an FBI agent who had quit as a consultant to the film, 9/11 Commission co-chair Lee Hamilton, and some conservatives, as well. The movie also lost its original description as being primarily based on the 9/11 Commission report.

“Clearly, those enraged that a film would criticize the Clinton administration's antiterrorism policies--though critical of its successor as well--were willing to embrace only one scenario: The writer was a conservative hatchetman,” Nowrasteh writes.

4. wah, wah, waaahhhh!
What a whiner. Look at this:

"It's good to have come to something approaching the end of this saga, whose lessons are worth remembering. It gave us, for one thing, a heartening glimpse (these things don't come along every day) of corporate backbone in the face of phenomenal pressure--and an infinitely more chilling one testifying to the power and reach of politically driven hysteria. A ripe subject for a miniseries, if ever there was one."

Pretend that he's talking about CBS and Dan Rather. How would he describe media backbone there?

5. Nowrasteh, your source for "the facts" that accurately depict
Bill Clinton's record on terrorism sucks. Perhaps you should have verified the information first before you created a partisan work of propaganda and aired it two months before an election.

And I can save you some time, check for Clinton's pleas to the GOP-led Congress regarding his anti-terrorism bill in 1996, prior to the 9/11 tragedy. If you pay attention, you will see several things that very well could have prevented 9/11 from happening in the first place, had they been implemented BY THE REPUBLICANS IN 1996.

So, when you want to start wagging your finger at somebody to place blame for terrorism, that is a good place to start.

Oh, and you might look at terrorism, insurgency, and al Qaeda in Iraq prior to our attack on that sovereign nation. You'll see it's more of a problem now than it was before we invaded. Is that also Clinton's fault?

He's a rabid Clinton-hater. He's mentally ill. And he's a lying thug. Do you think he knows or cares what others think of him? Scaife or someone will make him their personal filmmaker at some obscene salary...the repukes take care of their own financially.

10. A conservative hatchetman? No.
I wouldn't put down conservative hatchetmen like that. What you are, Cyrus, is a piece of shit that needs to go to school and learn something about history. What you did is abuse the truth. And you will be remembered as the worthless man that wrote a propaganda piece for ABC. I'm not sure what totally describes you. Worthless and pathetic come to mind.

of cause & effect, the need to get it all somewhere near right; in that the piece went right up to 9/11, he could have just as easily shown several important documents just sitting on bush's, and other desks within his admin just collecting dust, or being actively circumvented & suppressed for republican/neocon political gain...but he did not, Nowrasteh did what he did...he put together a hack job & he is somehow still proud of that

14. Cyrus forgets that the WSJ was where Reaganites lambasted his last...
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 01:21 PM by JHB
..."crocudrama", "The Day Reagan was Shot".

Reagan national Security Advisor Richard V. Allen (hardly a liberal) called that one a fraud too, with fictional scenes inserted and had the documentation to back himself up. Nowrasteh falsely claimed the evidence corroborated his version back then, too.

From Allen's WSJ oped: (the "Stone" mentioned is the director of the "docudrama", Oliver Stone)

But for Hollywood, admirable actions by people associated with the Reagan White House are not the stuff of drama. So Messrs. Stone and Nowrasteh depict certain cabinet members as uninformed weaklings and Mr. Haig as a brooding, swaggering, cursing, face-slapping coup-plotter. Other cabinet members and senior White House staffers are cowering wimps.

The film places generals in the Situation Room when they were not there; introduces conversations that never occurred; claims that a "red alert from NORAD" was in progress (there is no such thing) and that a Soviet "wolf pack" was off our coast with malign intent. (It wasn't: There were more Soviet subs than usual because it was the end-of-the-month changeover day, as we figured out within 20 minutes.)

The film claims that communications between the hospital and White House were spotty and uncertain; shows Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin complaining in a telephone call about weapons systems aimed at the Soviets that were not even decided on until months later; and makes Nancy Reagan out to be an emotionally unstable woman and aide Michael Deaver a sinister manipulator of the news. Meanwhile, Chief of Staff James Baker is a scheming politico, and Counselor Edwin Meese III is uninformed and confused.
***
The end of the movie is a hoot. Mr. Haig, his coup plot foiled, confronts the cabinet and White House staffers with a deal: He'll not tell about their nearly having thrust the nation into nuclear war if they'll not tell about his lunge for presidential power. Sneering, Mr. Dreyfuss strides from the room while the band of spineless officials breathes a sigh of relief.

Maybe the whole thing was meant as a comedy. If not, it is simply a swindle.

In the end, maybe the guy is just a hack.

18. In two related stories . . .
Peter Jackson defends Lord of the Rings as a 100% totally historically accurate account of real events. "There are reliable witnesses who will verify everything we said in the films."

AND

Dick Cheney said that huge stockpiles of WMD were found in Iraq, including nuclear-equipped drones that could have been flown from Baghdad to Washington DC where the only smoking gun would have been a mushroom cloud. He also reported that a stash of personal love letters were discovered that had been exchanged between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. "They were really gross, talking about weird parts of each other's bodies and unnatural acts that they had committed with one another while planning 9-11 and Democratic victories in the 2006 midterms.

Details on My Pet Goat's most famous reader failed the nation:

WHITEWASH AS PUBLIC SERVICE

HOW THE 9/11 COMMISSION DEFRAUDS THE NATION

by Benjamin DeMott
Originally from Harper's Magazine, October 2004.

EXCERPT...

Conceivably it was at or near the moment when Bush took this position that the members of the Commission who heard him grasped that casting useful light on the relation between official conduct and national unpreparedness would be impossible. The reason? The President’s claim was untrue. It was a lie, and the Commissioners realized they couldn’t allow it to be seen as a lie. Numberless officials had appeared before the whole body of the Commission or before its aides, had been sworn in, and had thereafter provided circumstantial detail about their attempts—beginning with pre-election campaign briefings in September, through November 2000, and continuing straight through the subsequent months—to educate Bush as candidate, then as president-elect, then as commander in chief, about the threat from terrorists on our shores. The news these officials brought was spelled out in pithy papers both short and long; the documentation supplied was in every respect impressive.<2>

31. No matter what is said, 9/11 happened on Republicans' and Bush's
watch. They had ample intelligence and warning about Osams and chose to ignore a very important report from Hart-Rudman. In the aftermath and during the war on terrorism, they changed to a personal war with Iraq and now both Iraq and Afghanistan are in flames.
