I regard such name-changing as sexist and a vestigial custom of the days of slaves and chattel - days when women (chattel) couldn't own property in their own name and couldn't vote.

I regard lipstick as a sexist fashion - hearkening back to the days when courtesans in France used it to make a ring around a client's 'member.'
