Sigh.....ABC ranking on TIVO
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 10:09 AM by tpsbmam
People just make me ill these days. If every Democrat, Green, moderate Republican, etc etc who expressed disgust with ABC and the revolting stunt they pulled with 9/11 boycotted ABC, these numbers would have dropped precipitously. Jesus people, is it to much to ask to stop watching a fucking TV show? Don't expect to see people flocking to the streets to protest when they can't even bother to frigging turn off "Desperate Housewives."

http://www3.tivo.com/tivo-tco/index.do

Most recorded TV series week ending September 17:

1. Desperate Housewives (unchanged from previous week)
2. Grey's Anatomy (unchanged from previous week)
5. Lost (was number 4 last week)

1. I agree with the thought

but, from what I understand of TiVO, ABC is essentially getting screwed as you fast forward to the commercials. Their adverts surely know that and use the TiVO numbers against them in negotiations.

6. My disgust....
this time was less with ABC (can't get must more disgusted than I am with them already) and more with American apathy & lethargy.

7. I understand
but I kind of like the idea of screwing ABC out of advertising dollars. TiVO, BitTorrent, etc. Not that I am advocating anything of the sort...

I do understand your larger point. Until we can demonstrate a direct personal gain from protest folks will not be in the street demanding change. This is the instant gratification era and protest takes too much time and can rarely be done from the easy chair. :sigh:

2. yeah well, how many peopleTivo'd and watched PT911
???

Just curious how that ranked.

It was a 30 million dollar paid political advertisement, and it was watched by hardly anyone. That's gotta hurt.

10. ranked where?
I'd heard the actual numbers weren't anything off the ordinary for those viewership times, just a slide in existing viewership. What percentage of the U.S. population actually saw it?

It's probably pretty low.

I for one was completely totally burned out on the media-induced orgy of contrived anguish that we experienced in the week leading up to 9-11 on television, every second of the day on 9-11, the planned presidential address, the commentary, punditry, politization, news, NPR, and blurbs on every non-cat blog in the U.S. I don't think I'm alone in this.

Watching a miniseries to cap it off - was not high in my list of things to do, nor was even turning on the television.

It happened. It was sad when it happened. I was sad at the time. I've moved on - I hate it when 9-11 gets as commercialized as Christmas.

5. I was hoping to get that info.....
But unfortunately, they don't provide that info....just most recorded series and most desired actors & directors on wish lists. I have TIVO and it still creeps me out that all of that stuff is monitored....and more than that is monitored.

11. Mark down the sponsors/commercials for these shows
and then inform the companies that, because they support ABC after the hatchet job of P2911, you will no longer support nor purchase their products ...
