Our Troops In Danger - When Sectarian Violence Focuses on Them...
Right now there are reports of massive numbers of tortured bodies turning up on the streets of Baghdad, and the heavy fighting between the Sunni and Shiite groups.

However, the real danger is that they will take a timeout from fighting each other, and attacking civilians, to focus their combined forces on our US troops.

The real danger will occur if Bush pulls the trigger on airstrikes and bombs Iranian strategic sites. We have not had a massive loss of life by our military troops since WWII. 130,000 - 170,000 US troops would be attacked on all sides, and we have no ready reinforcements to help hold positions. Plus, extrication of our troops in that environment would lead to a shooting gallery scenario.

The solution is not to send more troops(which we do not have) but to begin deploying our troops out now. THis situation is much more hazardous that Americans realize. However, the Pentagon Brass is well aware of the danger. And while they cannot speak publicly about their concerns, you can bet that Jack Murtha is accurately reflecting their concerns in his comments.

1. Anyone Know What Would Be Needed To Evacuate Troops Under Fire?
The logistics of this situation are playing against us with the passage of time. Sources on the ground keep pointing to the fact that equipment is breaking down and not repairable. Do we have the force to protect troops while they are withdrawing if we had evacuate them?

Jack Murtha has laid out a number of these dangers without saing the exact words. That gives me pause to think that the Pentagon Brass is worried as well.

Of course, the NeoCon staffed Office of Special Plans for the Iraq Invasion that has now morphed into the Iranian Directorate, only sees pushing forward as an option without considering the risk.

All that so called "Sectarian Violence" doesn't seem to be hindering them too much.
