Republicans and their desecration of the flag bills don't seem to have any objections to the flag being placed on the ground like a door mat and having their number one guy walk all over it. Whether Bush* had walked on it or not, is it proper to have the flag placed in such a position? I would think Republicans would be up in arms over it. Not that (he that can do no wrong) would walk on it but that it was there in the first place. I guess a Republican must have created it or we would never hear the end of it..

1. I don't know
I think it underlines the politicalization of this action.

Since the republicans (and pretty much everybody else) knows that they didn't put the flag on the ground to desecrate it, well, it's ok. If someone else did the same thing and labeled it "Step on this flag and show America what you think of it" well that would be wrong.

It's thoughtcrime.

2. Only wrong if Liberals do it
OK if GOP does it and it's an official, corporate licensed, artificial, imitation, flag substitute on a rug.

6. Don't forget "that's Made in China". ...
::sigh:: Isn't it odd that most of us Liberals/Dems seem to know more about and quite probably follow flag protocol more then so many of the RW pseudo "patriots".. including the biggest one of all... BuSh*.

3. It's against the code...
... to place the flag anywhere it might get soiled, it's also against the code to imprint it upon any household items such as rugs.

Bush treats the flag like his own personal logo. What an asshole.

How dare they call me an america-hater while literally standing on a flag?

7. Corporate Logo Recognition
There's a reason they train kids to respond to it in media, on clothes, on school sings....

America is just another subsidiary. The flag, just another corporate logo trigger to them. They never made any sacrifices for what that flag represents.

4. Nope. According to the "Flag Code", it should NEVER touch the ground.

8. As long as it wasn't for art (I believe the doormat was for profit),...
I think that Orrin Hatch is all for it ...
