Where Does The Bush Administration Stand On Dafur

Worldwide Protests Decry Violence In Darfur

POSTED: 5:59 pm PDT September 17, 2006
UPDATED: 5:59 pm PDT September 17, 2006

NEW YORK -- Tens of thousands of people rallied in cities across the world Sunday to protest the violence in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan, and urge world leaders to intervene to resolve the conflict.

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in New York City, religious leaders gathered outside Downing Street in London to pray for a resolution, and a candlelight vigil was held in Cambodia to remember Darfur victims.

In a counter demonstration, about 150 people in Khartoum, Sudan, marched to the United Nations' offices to protest the proposed deployment of U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur.

Protests and other events for the "Global Day for Darfur" were scheduled in four dozens cities worldwide to show support for Darfur's people and pressure the Sudanese government to protect its civilians and end the conflict.

1. No, Bush has pushed for a UN force to go in and that force is
ready right now. The Sudanese have rejected it, just yesterday I believe, preferring the pan-African force currently in place. They
are apparently pushing around and dictating to the African troops rather easily. As much as I dislike Bush, that can't be blamed on him!

2. Yes, but we can BLAME Dear Leader by placing all the ONUS
on the UN during his pseudo-Press Conference Friday.

Dear Leader implied that it was entirely The UN's Fault why everything isn't better. :(

5. Guess Bush doesn't really "care" where he is on Darfur....
cause right now, he's got an election to win for congress...meaning Black votes won't be counted here.....meaning he "really" doesn't give a shit as to what's happening with Black folks not even from here. :eyes:

Condi's probably a better one to ask. But of course, she'll just say that she couldn't imagine that anyone would want to treat black folks that way! :sarcasm:
