WP editorial: Majority Leader Boehner owes Democrats an apology
Playing Politics With Terror
Is John Boehner more interested in keeping the House than protecting Americans? We're just wondering.
Monday, September 18, 2006; Page A16

"I LISTEN TO MY Democrat friends, and I wonder if they are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people."

That was House Majority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio talking to reporters last week. He should apologize.... On many issues -- the treatment of detainees at Guantanamo Bay and in secret prisons, warrantless surveillance by the National Security Agency, prohibitions against torture -- Democrats, joined by some brave and responsible Republicans and more often than not backed up by the courts, have served as an important brake on an administration heedless of constitutional requirements, international law and national reputation....

***

...whether one disagrees with Democrats on any particular issue, it is offensive to try to paint opponents, as Mr. Boehner did, as uninterested in "protecting the American people" -- and to dodge the implications of that statement by claiming, as Mr. Boehner did, that he was simply wondering. As the election season heats up, this is a line of argument that Republicans would do well to drop.

12. Wasn't it for getting caught though?
It is very hard for them to apologize for something they truly believe but getting caught is their biggest sense of doing wrong..

18. Yep, they can't stand to admit they are wrong
and Allen is still lying trying to say he "made up the word Macaca" and he "never heard it before."

These people are vile!!!

19. He gave the standard pubbie non-apology apology...
I'm sorry that you took offense at what I said. But I'm not going to apologize for saying it.

9. WaPo has been all over the map on the Bush Crimes
One day the Post's lead editorial sounds like it was written by Richard Perle and the next day it sounds like this.

7. Oh, he's just a little snippy
He's been cranky ever since he realized he's not going to be the majority leader after January. Smaller office and all that, you know.

impact these people are having on our government, our nation, and the planet, maybe it's time to start calling this column . . .

"Top Ten Neocon Traitors" . . .

somehow "idiots" just doesn't seem strong enough anymore . . .

and there are a lot of traditional conservatives who are as fed up with BushCo as we are . . . no sense alienating them . . .

Likes the pronunciation of his name to be "Bayner."
From where I see things it's Boner. Perhaps we can say he's also known as Hugh Jardon, or first class jerkoff. Me thinks he uses Trent Lott's hair dresser.

14. This is what the GOP really means by "putting our differences aside"
Step 1 is milking every ounce of political gain possible by branding Democrats as terrorist sympathizers.

Step 2 is "putting our differences aside", lest Democrats go on the offensive and point out the dismal Republican failures in Iraq, a sorry episode that ironically enough has only served to swell the ranks of the terrorist groups that want to kill us.

20. Dear Mr. Boehner,
Edited on Mon Sep-18-06 01:20 PM by ktlyon
I was wondering that same thing about you, the President and the rest of the congress. You all seem to be giving the bad guys what they want. You got rid of Saddam for them, got out of Saudi Arabia, you seem to be ignoring the 911 Commission Report and you are making more terrorists every day you bomb, shoot, torture and murder their families. What gives? Money?

Sincerely,
Concern Citizen and patriot

21. As a Democrat, there's about 27 percent of the U.S. public
I would happily turn over to Al Qaeda. Can you guess what 27 percent that might be?

I listen to Mr. Boehner and I wonder if Mr. Boehner eats his own shit and then talks with his mouth full. Not claiming that he does that. Just wondering.
