Oliver North to visit Bozeman

Political commentator and television host Oliver North will visit Bozeman in two weeks to speak at a fundraiser for a statewide conservative Christian organization.

North, 62, will be the keynote speaker at the 2006 Friends of the Family benefit banquet to be held at the Student Union Building on the Montana State University campus on Sept. 30.

The event is a fundraiser for the Montana Family Foundation, a conservative organization affliated with Focus on the Family.

A former lieutinent colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, North is best known for his role in the Iran-Contra Affair, a Reagan administration scandal in which several officials illegally helped sell weapons to Iran to raise funds for anti-communist guerillas in Nicaragua.

I am right now sending this out to everyone I know trying to organize something to mount a protest. Unfortunately the event is on a Saturday, so we won't have the entire campus seeing us, but there are enough people milling around on Saturdays to make it work. Especially if North sees that he's not welcome. Unfortunately, neither the Chronicle or the MFC's website indicates a time of day for this event. We'll see if they respond to an email I send.

I read about Col. North's upcoming visit to Bozeman in this morning's Chronicle. I would like to attend, but unfortunately, I must work until 6:00PM on the 30th, and I couldn't find any information on when the event began. I would appreciate any information on the hours that event is being held. Thanks!

in WWII, perhaps you should read about how the Knights of Malta were responsible for the deaths of thousands of Allied troops so they could prolong the war.

The parking lot is a large campus lot for general parking, so it would be photographing hundreds of cars, most of them having nothing to do with the MFF or North. Mostly I just want North to know that criminals and haters aren't welcome here, despite the red-state status of Montana.
