A big thank-you to the partners, spouses and S.O.'s of us DU'ers.
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 11:43 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Many of us have partners who don't share our level of passion about the political world today. And some even disagree with us outright.

It is those we are closest to who are most often witness to our outraged rants when we hear about about yet the latest egregious injustice. They are also frequently on the receiving end of our discourses, in great detail, about political events across the country or across the world.

Not to mention the time we spend online, analyzing and debating the issues. And, the time we spend involved in local political actions.

I'm sure there are a lot of DU'ers who are involved with partners that share their exact level of knowledge, passion and commitment to take back our country and make the world a better place.

However, for those of us who have someone who loves us, and supports us regardless of their own views and level of involvement...

With much love, THANK YOU! :loveya: :pals: :toast:

10. My cat thinks I'm over-the-edge sometimes.
When my ranting becomes too boisterous, she'll roll her eyes and give me that "now you're acting stupid" look. That's when I remind her that if she'd educate herself and quit switching to Fox News when I'm not around, I'd take her opinions more seriously.

4. Damn right!
My guy shares my political convictions but has no interest in on-line forums. He is wonderfully tolerant and NEVER gives me grief over my near obsession. Its only one of the many reasons I love him.

6. I agree
S.O. doesn't have near the interest in politics that I do, and doesn't always share my point of view. But he doesn't try to change my mind, and understands how important my political views are to me. I love him for that! :loveya:

7. My husband is convinced I've joined a cult... between my on-line
time and my activities in Code Pink, he is convinced that I have become crazy. But at times I am also amazed at his carefree attitude, his astounding belief in the country and in democracy, and his naive eyes that see the govt and the officials as the "good guys". When we finally get things right again, I will love to stand beside him and feel that ease which he walks around with.

If anything he wishes that I would be less involved. I think he's affraid that one day I will be caught up by the powers that be and wisked away to a concentration camp. I told him if I go missing, its not because I wanted to. I hope we don't come to that. I hope we can take this country back before its too late... but that's why I am doing. I told him its my mama-bear instict coming out of hibernation to protect my family.

8. I almost feel guilty for my wife getting more outraged
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 11:56 AM by shadowknows69
I almost wish one of us had the ignorant bliss that our country still worked and our government cared about its people or any people. She in as bad a despair as I am. I tell her there's no one I'd rather spend the end of the world with.

<edited to add>
I have the most amazingly strong woman in the universe, to put up with me sometimes. Have I mentioned that?

9. Yep, Kevsand put up with a lot out of me until he joined us.
He really DID tolerate a lot of times where I was citing online articles and telling him about stuff that he was not seeing on CNN and the various newspapers. He IS quite political and very much an activist, but I was the one online. He had a most excellent time whenever we were at DU gatherings, but was not terribly interested in joining an online group.

Finally, after a couple of years where I was saying, "See? I TOLD you that two months ago!" He finally assimilated and joined DU. I have to admit, it really does make for some interesting times when we're discussing/debating a thread from DU and Material Girl is looking at us like we are nuts...

11. My wife does not share my passion for this stuff
She would go ballistic over me posting on this or any web site. I understand her fears and I am very careful to protect her. Her fear comes from the fact the she has a sister and I have a brother who both devoiced mates they were with for long time because of someone they met on line. So she sees all site where people who interact as bad.
She know I browse DU but she does not know that I post. This is the ONLY secret I keep from her and the only one that I ever will keep. I don't know why, but it is just so she doesn't worry about my on line activity because I am afraid that she would get real upset about me posting to a web site.

She would however, understand the cause, she would back it 100% for that matter as she sees what is happening in this country today.

16. My 18 y/o daughter has taken up the liberal view of the world
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 02:58 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Because of? or in spite of? my major left leaning views.

And, my husband is extremely supportive of her adoption of liberal politics, even though he tends to be a little more conservative than me in many respects.
