I hope our Dem leaders are ready to counter Wiretapping BS.
Cause it's already began. This Administration is at war as we speak. They are trying to spin ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING-AS DEFINED BY STANDING LAW- as perfectly legal and a 'must-have' in the war on terrorism. God Help Us if they win this one, cause WE WILL BE NEXT.

1. They have been making that argument all along
But yeah, we need to counter it. The focus has to be on executive overreach. Those who love Bush won't care, but those in the middle who are a little shaken may see the wisdom in restraining Bush's right to wiretap anybody he damn well pleases.

4. They seem unwilling to make those arguments in court, though.

Could it be that the evidence (they're not willing to present) shows otherwise?
Could it be that the law, as understood by a judge, shows otherwise?
Could it be that "trust me" isn't a legal justification?

It's amazing to me that they can count on a large part of the American public merely nodding their empty heads and not saying "tell it to the judge!" We're too fucking stupid to deserve democracy.

3. WE must lead the 'leaders' to ACT
"When the PEOPLE lead, the leaders will follow"..
Please join me in hitting the phones, fax, on these issues. I am urging elected employees to fillibuster Alito, forget about the nomination, till we have investigations on the over-reaching of THIS executive branch.
I am looking for the Senate to hold Hearings on "phase 2" of the MIS-use of INTEL that took us into Iraq.
I am asking WHY they're spying on anti-war groups, but won't explain WHY Gannon was in the WH, apparently a schill for bush admin?
WHY do we 'need' the FISA Court, OR UN-Patriot Act,if Mr.bush can over rule, at his whim?
There are plenty of reasons to call DC,demand accountability, demand the rascals HONOR their Constitutional DUTY, NOW.

5. And what has that got to do with infilrating Quakers?
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 12:22 PM by rocknation
If they're not doing anything illegal, why NOT let the NSA in on it? Because they KNOW the NSA won't give them warrants for the people they want to spy on, and the people they want to spy on are the ones that the Bush Empire sees as their political enemies!
