5. Graham wants the Geneva Conventions to stay as is despite
what dimson wants. That's okay in my book. I think this is the first time I've ever agreed w/him!

10. He is passionate about following the GC accords--and not allowing the US
to make changes to suit their own purposes.

15. He's a former JAG officer.
Don't be deluded by his good ol' boy manner ... he's really not a dummy. His conservative 'roots' (sans neocon seductions) are as a "Law and Order Conservative." While I venously disagree with most of his stances, I tend to regard him as having a modicum of intellectual integrity - unlike many.

16. Totally agree Tahiti. His good ol' boy manner fooled me for
a short while, then I started really listening to what he had to say. He is very intelligent and no neocon. Also, the freepers hate him (that should tell you something).

17. He did vote for SCJ's along party lines. He is a repug at heart, but
I guess dimson pushed the envelope too hard.

2. We need to change our laws to make them more clear...
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 09:41 AM by The Cleaner
Focusing on what the courts see as legal...

Graham: "I'm getting pounded at home...they are saying why are you standing in the way, Bush wants to protect this country...I admire the President but we cannot have a great nation when we start redefining who we are...we don't redefine America so that we don't win this war...

Arlen Spectre now on...agrees with Graham, Warner, McCain...you cannot use coerced confession...I disagree with them trying to eliminate Habeus Corpus...we have to follow the Geneva Convention...they incorporated our standards on due process...

4. Graham looked like he had tears in his eyes...
I'm thinking he is goody 2 shoes, not hypocrite.
Still remembering that Clinton impeachment role, however.

6. Carl Levin now speaking...says we've got to stay with
the position that protects American troops...the enemy wants the propaganda tool that says America mistreats and tortures...

3. Said he would rather lose election than support changes to
Article 3.

"We can be a great nation without Lindsay Graham but we cannot be a great nation if we redefine who we are" with regard to torture.

with JAGs.

That is so Spectre. He's all talk, no action.
