2. Loyalty Check of the GOP along with #1
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 07:25 PM by SalmonChantedEvening
Those in his own party will be punished for opposing this (mostly senators due for re-election in 08) as well as trying to make this an issue against the Democrats for the last few weeks until November.

Odd though, some hard line GOP candidates have lost thier primaries to more moderate candidates. Has * played a hand that's already a losing one?

One can only hope.

5. So this is what our country is reduced to? The president, pushing TORTURE
as a WINNING issue for his party in the upcoming elections?

11. This will be in somewhat garbled english
But it isn't the ISSUE that's at (redundancy alert!) issue here, it's loyalty, or in Chimpy's case, fealty. The issue doesn't mstter, what matters is who supports the boy king and who doesn't.

Welcome to Modus Operandi 101, Rove style.

Those who oppose even in the slighest degree must called on the carpet. or harangued into silence or compliance.

3. Jesus spoke to him,

or maybe Rove underlined a few words in Bush's Bible.

4. Did the senate really pass the bill to allow * to spy on Americans
retroactively? I have heard no outrage about that. Everyone's upset about this. Everyone should be upset about both.

6. Bush is afraid he'll get busted for war crimes and needs to amend Geneva
convention laws - bush needs a vote now while he has the majority vote?

7. It's not him, at all. Rove has his eye on the long term...
This is a set up for Congressional Republicans to show how independent of Bush they are. Mark my words! It'll all be love and kisses again after the election -- though less so than it was, because Bush is rapidly becoming irrelevent.

They don't give a shit for the Geneva Conventions one way or another -- they certainly don't fear prosecution. Way too arrogant.

9. Bush actually believes it is in our best interest.
Partly, this is because he is being convinced by the ruthless, hateful bastards surrounding him. In part, it's because he sees things with great simplicity and "clarity".

10. Interesting
I find it interesting(not really) that Bush is pushing so hard for the "secret evidence" to remain "secret".

From what have learned, the majority of the men being held at Gitmo have little or no evidence against them...save a neighbor who may have turned them in for the reward. Various detainees where offered up via Chalabi's group.

Bush has felt the heat of embarrassment from his intelligence failures on Iraq. Imagine the further embarrassment when the "evidence", which is nil to nothing, begins to emerge and the world will, once again...get to see him in all of his ignorant glory. After all, he's been telling us for 4 years that they were the worst of the worst. What are there...450 of them?

No wonder Bush was so outrageous at his press conference.

12. The Int'l Red Cross will be interviewing the rendition detainees..
...after they arrive at Gitmo. Bush is desperately trying to retroactively legalize their torture in a lame attempt to stave off war crime charges from the World Court.

14. I agree, Bush is only covering his own ass with Geneva rule change
Unless he passes an amendment, violating the Geneva Convention rules just isn't a cool thing to do, especially when you're the prez...

15. Warrentless Spying, Torture, Secret Prisons,
and Rendition are all crimes and violations of The US Constitution. Impeachment is the only remedy. I am fairly certain that the Congress, even with a Dem majority in the House will not move to that option. The Prez. and VP will get away with their crimes.
