Approve vs. Disapprove... 60% or 40%
Personally, I've decided to start using the disaproval number rather than the approval number. Here's why. ...

During the couple administrations preceding George W. Bush, presidential ratings were generally above 50% approval. That's a good number to have, and was thus trumpeted as an accomplishment... 40% approval is not a good number to have, it is not an accomplishment.

Recently on the news, I've heard "President Bush has gone back up to 40%" sound like something good that's happened. It's only a reminder that the freak-nuts are still out there, and still better at spinning things than we are.

As Democrats, we should trumpet the LESSER of the stats. That said, "60% disapprove of Pres. Bush's job as president" sounds a LOT worse than "40% approve..."

60% says so much more about the actual situation. DISAPPROVE is a strong word. It makes me feel like I'm not alone.

However, the 60% disapproval rating is getting through to the average American who has never drunk the Right Wing Koolaid.

Despite having to counter the whorish M$M quoting 40% approval, I honestly believe that "the reachable" voters are getting the message.

Most importantly, the vast majority of Americans do realize that the U.S.A. media, save for a few newspapers, is just one big Info-tainment joke.

Hope springs eternal and yes, we should push the 60% disapproval rating of Dear Leader.

2. It's funny. Normally candidates who get 40% of the vote are laughed at
like George McGovern, Walter Mondale, or Barry Goldwater, but according the modern media 40% is a great approval rating for a president.
