What NeoConservatism Hath Brought
(Here neoconservatism refers to the contemporary American ideology, not the international brand.)

1. The "Bush Preemptive War Doctrine" replacing the deterrence doctrine of times past. The Bush Doctrine has both morally and fiscally corrupted our government.

2. Disrespect of the American government and its citizenry from the world at large. Even those we've tried so dearly to help hate (no, hate is not too strong of a word) us.

3. Sky-rocketing, unprecedented deficits at both the national and individual level.

4. Abuse of the responsibilities that come with military power such as keeping peace (think Darfur), and humanitarian assistance (think slow and lack of response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami).

5. Regressive legislation on reproductive rights, and other necessary social reforms - health care, minimum/living wage, Medicare.

6. Attempted dismantling of New Deal reforms which have withstood the test of time.

7. Fiscal shunning of scientific strives into stem cell research, alternative energy development, and countless other .

8. The ultimate dismantling of paleoconservatism, and disregard of some of its decent tenets such as fiscal restraint, forethought, and a sense of history.

9. The destruction of a great American city through indifference, incompetence, and misguided focus on an irrational "war on terror."

10. George W. Bush, and Richard B. Cheney

Feel free to add more.

1. Here's a few
1. A "Brain Drain" of life scientists to other nations, resulting from the bans on stem cell and fetal research. (Related to your #7.)

2. Lots of personal bankruptcies.

3. Diversion of funds (massive -- circa $5bln) within the space program from peaceful scientific work into military applications.

4. Increases in homicide, homelessness, divorce, mental illness, infant mortality, assault, rape, abortion (as an indicator of social stress, not as a civil right), infectious disease rates.

5. A flood of military desertion.

6. Increase in hate crimes, especially against gays and Muslims.

7. Attempts to introduce sectarian religious instruction, mainly via "Intelligent Design" and sexuality courses, into public education.

8. Markedly less security of cargo at ports and airports.

9. Invention of a new class of victims -- sham victims of "Political Correctness".

10. Music is getting sucky again.

2. don't say "neoconservatism". call it what it is
its conservatism, no matter how you dress it up.
