1. Weather is changing there
Becoming "less hot" and more amenable for field activities.

2. Sure would be nice if someone who could do something about it
gave a good goddamn.

5. just think where we would be today if not for desent from us
I believe that DU has had an impact on helping to get the truth out. I knew all the lies before I found DU but not in the depth I do now, my arguments with the people I am in contact with in my everyday life hear a much more informed version of the truth from me than would have been possible before DU.

3. I really wonder about those numbers.
I'm old enough to remember when the truth came out about the daily Vietnam casualties. The government would release numbers that always had the enemy body count higher than ours. It was easy for them to do it because, at the time, it was nearly impossible to prove them wrong. If the Nixon administration, which was stupid enough to tape Nixon's conversations, used this tactic, I have to think that Bush is doing it, too.

6. I suggested that very thing early on here at DU and I am still
a little gun shy because of the way I was treated, so I don't advise it.
But yes we would never know. How many non-nationals are there in the US Military today and how would we track them, we can't thats how. IMO. My belief is that that is the true number of American citizen military personnel who have been killed but not the true number. Another question, how many mercenaries have lost their lives?

7. You aren't the only one here who thinks that numbers may be
way off.

Remember last week a report came out that the adm. was not counting Iraqi deaths due to roadside bombs and mortar attacks? That made the national news but no one seemed to really care.

I don't beleive anything that comes out of this adm.

8. When will the count grow too high?
What's the magic number when the public at large decides that this misadventure is no longer worth it? Sadly, I don't think we're anywhere close.

9. It was too high when it hit #1
Now it is an atrocity. An absurdity.

And the number of Iraqis dead is unforgivable.

12. Is this ever mentioned on chimp's bought and sold media?
I boycott all of it, so I wouldn't know. But I get the impression that Iraq, and especially casualties, have been all but forgotten by CNN et al.
