1. I will never endorse any anti-immigration argument.
EVER. There is no population crisis in this country and there won't be for a long long time.

2. I endorse no immigrants until we get our own national house cleaned
they are not helping with all the issues existing for the moment.

3. Sure, let's send back somewhere else anybody without native American
heritage.

If you want radical solutions, here is one.

11. How far back do we go with this nonsense?
Cortez and Columbus? They have a lot to answer for. (though most Mexicans of today don't mind being Christian... those slaughtered 400 years ago probably did mind about what was being shoved down their throats while they were being sliced...)

Or long before that? Slavery, forced relocation, imposition of one's values over another - it's as old as prostitution, which is just about as old as humankind itself. (I'd say "mankind", but that would invoke the inane "that's a sexist term" argument...)

At what point do we stop apologizing for a past none of us can do anything about and look to the future; which is the one thing we DO have choice over?

5. I don't think you're paying attention
Edited on Fri Sep-15-06 10:43 PM by MoseyWalker
this is NOT an immigrant bashing thread. In any way. Perhaps you have your personal beliefs, and are projecting, but I want to state in no uncertain terms that this is not what you intimated.

My best friend and intimate friend is of a different race, and family from a different country, than I am.

Just because this thread is out there does not mean it is meant to be divisive.

Please reread what's there.

Thanks.

6. So, because (s)he is of a different race, he is an immigrant?

Interesting. How many generations before the person becomes an American?

8. I don't want to skew this poll
by putting a personal opinion in, and didn't even intend to reply, but the response seemed to require it.

10. It's about worker abuse.
Regardless of any relevant tangents, and there are many, the core issue is worker abuse. And those coming here are getting abused too. Many just don't seem to see it as abuse.

9. We don't need any more Americans.
Those currently here are too worried about their own and will eat every other dog if they have to.

Those coming in are spineless wimps who'd rather flee their country for themselves. They're as loyal as any given locust would be.

And the reverse is true; I doubt the Chinese and Indians taking the jobs essential to our domestic economy will be returning the favor anytime soon. (they love to hate us, but they sure don't mind takin' our jobs. So much for the phrase "Don't bite the hand that feeds". Our hands ironically lack the nerve to feel the pain.)

None of this spells prosperity for America's future.

12. Jobs
There aren't enough jobs to go around for everyone who wants one. A lot of people didn't see that the more technological innovations we have, the fewer people we need to do jobs.
