Lonedell (MO) mother's throat slashed and 7 day old baby girl kidnapped...
by disguised woman. Just happened. The attacker had a female moustache, weighed 200 lbs and was 5'8". My sister used to live near Lonedell. I swear, some women go nuts when they want children! I just hope she was'nt stealing a child to sell to someone else.

1. Usually they're stealing it for themselves.
In these cases, most often the attacker is motivated by their own desire for a child. If you're just out for money, there are easier ways to get it when you're willing to kill someone.

Are we suggesting one of those side-effect 'stashes that at times accompany polycystic ovaries, or are we talking about a fake glue-on number?
Woman slashes mother's throat, steals her baby
Story by The Associated Press

4:40 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2006

St. Louis-area police are searching for a 7-day-old baby after a woman kidnapped her and slashed her mother's throat today.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department says a woman entered a home in Lonedell and kidnapped Abby Woods after holding her mother at gunpoint. The woman then slashed the mother's throat and fled with the child.

Police say the mother is recovering in a hospital.

Police describe the assailant as a white female who is about 5'8" tall and weighs about 200 pounds. They say she has dark hair and was wearing a gray or brown t-shirt and jean shorts.

The child has a birthmark between her eyes and was wearing a pink dress with a white collar.

3. I'd like to know the status of the mother, too...link?

As for the 'stache, some women do have them naturally. (Probably a lot more than we're aware, since most women wax or bleach them.)

edited to add: ah, I see you found the link. :)

4. Did the mom survive?
I've read about at least one case where someone survived a throat slashing.

5. Yes, she survived.

Most people think you pull someone's head back to slash their throat. Pushing your victim's head forward is what works. Gruesome, I know, I watch too many true crime tv shows.

7. Depends on what's slashed
If it's a superficial slash, even if the jugular is cut, the person has a good chance of survival.

Deep cuts that sever the windpipe and at least one of the carotids are generally not survivable, although people who have gotten immediate attention have survived them, although with some degree of brain damage.

8. I wonder if the kidnapper has PCOS?
These newborn kidnappings by strange women are often motivated by the desire to raise a baby they can't have otherwise as thier own. PCOS is a pretty common cause of sterility (some authorities say it's the most common cause of female infertility) and some of it's symptoms are excessive body hair growth and inability to lose weight. It also commonly causes high testosterone levels, which we all know are associated with aggression and in extreme cases criminal behavior (though as far as I know they've only looked at the link in men.)

Just a thought that passed through my mind.
