11. She's the worst bush apologist -- I don't think Miles & the bald guy agree
What is that guys name? Andy Serwin? Is it my imagination or has Miles O'brien been lobbing some sarcastic barbs about Bushit over the last few weeks?

I also sensed the Serwin guy acting incredulous over several things that have happened lately--maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part...as to her she's CLEARLY a bush backer and shouldn't pollute our airways!

Bush Aide Says Abramoff Photos Coincidence

Monday January 23, 2006 1:03 PM

AP Photo WHRE102

WASHINGTON (AP) - An adviser to President Bush said Monday that Bush's photographs in the company of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff amount to a coincidence and shouldn't be interpreted any more seriously than that.

``He doesn't have a personal relationship with him,'' White House counselor Dan Bartlett said of Bush and Abramoff, who recently pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from his lobbying practices and has pledged to cooperate with government prosecutors.

``We acknowledge he (Abramaoff) attended some Hannukuah celebrations,'' Bartlett said in an appearance on NBC's ``Today'' show. ``Any suggestions by critics or anyone else to suggest the president is doing something nefarious with Abramoff is absurd.''

Bush himself has said that he doesn't recall meeting Abramoff.

..more..

12. Hillarious!! Then WHY did Bush withdraw Black, the prosecutor in
Guam, who was investigating Abramoff back in 2002, I think, for corruption, just in time to get him off the hook? I know, Scotty will tell us that it was just another coincidence!'

How about the campaign donation of $100,000 making Abramoff one of Bush's 'rangers'? Wait, only $6,000 was actually FROM Abramoff?? So how did he get to be a 'ranger'?

'Oh, what webs we start to wieve, when first we practice to deceive'! Their noses are growing longer and longer and longer.

'I never had personal relations with that man, I mean, I never had personal relations with Mr. Abramoff.'

I wonder what Mr. Abramoff is telling prosecutors? I wonder how many signed photos Abramoff has of himself with Bush? I hope he put everything in a safe place, in case there are any accidents. And he should stay off small planes and make sure everyone knows he is planning on a long and productive life.

20. His whole LIFE is a coincidence.
he knows NO ONE.. He knows NOTHING about just about EVERYTHING, and yet...

strangers pile cash on top of him
strangers offer him cushy stock deals
strangers bail his failing businesses out
strangers fall on their swords for him
strangers are willing to go to jail for him

6. Lol, Bush would have been better off admitting he knows Abramoff
and working on denying that he had any involvment with the illegal activities. His base would have believed him just like that. But, when it comes out that he lied about knowing Abramoff, people are just going to assume he was involved in the corruption. Jackass!

They strike me as a strawman -- where's the pics? here's the pics. Big deal, he takes pics with thousands of people, doesn't mean anything.

I heard that RW female Cspan host yesterday saying "don't we all have photos at home taken with people and we can't even remember their names?"

In the midst of those arguments, where does Abramoff-as-a-Bush-pioneer fall?

17. publishing the photos threatens national security??
I think the last paragraph quoted here from another thread is significant.... they are threatening the press not to publish anything that is anti-Bush because it is a threat to national security. I mean this Abramoff thing is not about national security, it is about buying influence in the White House and Congress. Yet, they claim it is U.S. enemies who are promoting this. It is their continued attempt (mostly successful) to get away with this kind of threatening of the press and anyone who complains against the Bush administration that is very very scary stuff. Yes, democracy as we know it is going down fast...

Bush Reveals Abramoff Photo

by Dood Abides

Washington, DC (APE) - In a stunning development today, President Bush revealed to reporters assembled at the Rose Garden what he claims to be his only picture of Jack Abramoff. He stated that the displayed, framed picture was one of any number of pictures of friends and family that he keeps for inspiration behind his desk in the Oval Office. He again maintained no real knowledge of Abramoff but stated that the picture was more important to him for the other person, Karl Rove, who is depicted in it.
White House spokesperson Scott McClellan stated that staff were frankly surprised with the president's candid revelation today. He related that staff had made a real effort over the past week of investigating and classifying any such photographs around the White House, in the files of White House photographers, and those of independent news media. He stated that this one just got through somehow.

McClellan lauded the president's attempt at honesty with the American public. "This just further proves our point," he stated. "To maintain that there is any direct connection between Jack Abramoff and the president is just ludicrous, and the worst form of political posturing."

When asked to comment about the impending revelation from Time magazine of five photos apparently showing that Bush had met Abramoff on a number of occasions, McClellan notably bristled. "The FBI and the NSA are currently investigating this claim, and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has sternly cautioned Time Inc. against publishing material which may have dire repercussions for the security of America. Funding for and conspiracies from America's enemies run deep."<snip>
