Cafferty's questions for today
4 p.m.: Would you support a third national political party headed by Colin Powell and Barack Obama?

5 p.m.: Should the Pope apologize for comments he made about Islam?

7 p.m.: What does it mean when President Bush says interrogation of terror suspects "won't go forward" unless Congress changes the law?

1. WTF
Ya, the Obama-Powell party will be just as sense-making as the Pat Buchanan-Medea Benjamin party... :eyes:

3. I think they are speaking about
A party specifically concerned with black interests like was discussed back in the 60s.

7. What a dumb idea (on Caferty's part)
I mean besides the inherent racism of the idea, it would only gain maybe 5% of the vote as I suspect many African Americans would stick with the Democrats. And again, it's silly to think that just because two people are black it would make a good party, just as Benjamin and Buchanan would make an absurd party and they're both the same race too....

2. I told him:
As is usual when the President speaks, I have no idea what he is trying to say. He puts words together in new and creative ways that fail to convey meaning.

10. Here's my first attempt @ 4pm
Easy on the Colin Powell worship, Jack. Although it is true that Powell deserves credit & respect for him coming out in support of our military & the rule of law by speaking out against Bush*s desire to torture prisoners, our men and women in uniform are in harm's way now in part because of Powell's selling Bush*s lies to the UN and the American public.

~~~~~ or how about this response ~~~~~~
Third party? Jack, I'd be happy if we had 2 parties.
14. okay, I've got two
neither are zingers...but where are yours? Hmmmm.
Jack, I can’t for the life of me figure out why Bush is obsessed with torturing people. Those who have spent their careers in intelligence say that torture is counter productive in retrieving actionable intelligence. I believe that Bush is more interested in tearing down the rule of law than he is in catching terrorists. The ugly truth is that if Bush were concerned with catching terrorists and stopping a future attack--and mind you 911 happened on Bush’s watch--then he wouldn’t be draining our blood & treasure in Iraq, he wouldn’t have let Bin Laden get away in Tora Bora, he wouldn’t be so cozy with Pakistan or Saudi Arabia--you remember, the country where most of the hijackers came from---and he wouldn‘t have exposed Valerie Plame‘s front company that worked to track loose nukes that could fall into the hands of terrorists.
~~and~~
I believe that Bush’s statement is further evidence that he is insane and should be removed from office---as should every person in his administration.
