2. If Joe isn't handicapped, he should be ashamed of himself.
One, for taking a handicapped parking spot when he doesn't need it. He should be glad he's able to walk, and park where he's supposed to.

If he's not handicapped, this is further proof it's time for Joe to Go. He obviously feels he's above the law, and we don't need people in our government with that attitude.

Also explains why Joe and Bush get along so well. Kissin' cousins, so to speak...

3. Don't be so quick to judge
My sister has a non-visible handicap (balance disorder) and gets grief for parking in the disabled spots, even though she needs to be there. He may have had someone with him who needed him to park there.

6. If he had someone disabled with him, he should drop them off
then park in a regular parking place. I think that handicapped spots are strictly for folks with the special platew or placard, not for passengers?

7. Yes, I've carried passengers with disabilities but you
are not allowed to use those spaces without the authorization. I know, because I've been annoyed, and had a hard time double parking, helping my passenger inside, and then parking in a legal spot.

8. Oh, I'm all for getting to the facts of this

And if subsequent investigation finds that he had a person with him who was disabled, then by all means, let the truth come out.

On page B18 of the newspaper.

10. Uh, where's the special tag or hanger, then?
Bull. I don't buy it. If you are driving someone else who has a disability, then you drop them off and park in a regular spot. No tag, no mirror hanger, no space in the spot. A ticket, instead!

13. That is correct
Unless the handicapped person has HP placard (or HP license tag), you can not park there.

Does anyone know where this happened? And if so, the email address of the police in that area?

I would like to send that photo to the police. The cost of that type of ticket is $300 here on the southern Oregon coast.

What many people do not realize, is that particular type of HP space is meant for vans w/lifts ONLY. The hash marks in the next space are to allow the lift to be lowered and the wheelchair user to get out of the van.

If, in fact, that's holy joe's car, I WANT HIM TO GET A TICKET. And I want it to be reported nationwide that he got a ticket for parking in a HP space!

15. I can't see if there is a hanging tag on the rear view mirror or not
and, not all disabled people can get in or out of buildings by themselves. I'm not saying he didn't do something wrong. I just say, find out first. Having been on the other end of it, where people think my sister's abusing it when she's not, I understand that things aren't always what they look like.

16. I doubt the paper would have printed the shot if there was one
And here's the bottom line, like it or not--if you know you are dumping off a person who is disabled, you either need to bring help or prepare to double park somewhere other than a disabled space. You cannot, I repeat, cannot, use those spaces UNLESS you have a tag or hanger. Why?

Because EVERY ASSHOLE would claim they were dropping off gimpy Aunt Betty or blind Uncle Bob. As it is, the number of BUMS who swipe those spaces make life miserable for ALL of us. The lazy and healthy take the spaces, the handicapped people gripe, and they end up designating half the damn parking lot as disabled parking, thinking that they haven't provided enough of them. Then, those of us who have no use for the blue spaces have to compete with others for a smaller number of regular spots.

Also, the fine for double parking is way cheaper than the fine you wind up with for parking in the handicapped space.

I drive an old lady around who has her own little hanger that she keeps in her purse. I don't bother using it though; I dump her off, park and walk. It's not much exercise, but every little bit helps.

And as for Joementum, if there were two people in his car, one was driving and it wasn't Joey. I'm betting he has an aide/manager drive him around.

17. In my state you have to have a handicapped plate or a hanging tag
to park in a handicapped spot. I thought that was pretty much universal.

19. Having someone with you who's handicapped not an excuse
I pulled up and parked in a handicapped parking place to help get my handicapped sister inside the VA
Hospital to see our brother, and there was a ticket on my car when I returned 5 minutes later. They slapped a $50.00 fine on me, and I was wrong to do that. In retrospect, it would have been better if I
would have parked in a regular parking space, and got a wheelchair to get her over to the VA.

4. That may be the election
It's the one thing most of American voters agree on. We all want to park in those handicapped spaces but we can't. If a politician is using his office to thwart the rules then if the voters learn this, they won't vote for him.
