ever get depressed thinking about the sad sad situation the world is in...
The poverty, the wars, torture, slaughterhouses, the environmental destruction etc. get you down.?

I find these two sites always cheer me up after I have been musing on the world/politics for too long ;).....

7. That Kitten War site is SO CUTE!
I love all those Kittens. How could anyone not love them?

I have two cats, I got one from the shelter, she was a stray and was about to be put down, and the other one was a tiny kitten that the mean GOP neighbors had thrown outside to spend the night on its own. It was 20 degrees that night, and the kid across the street had seen them kick it and abuse it.

He was rescued from the cold that night, a couple of years ago and I've kept him ever since. The vet said he would have never survived the night. He's a big fella now and a great friend.

Thanks for posting the links, I've sent them to a couple of friends, too.

10. eeeek-who kicks and abuses a tiny kitten?
I disapprove of all animal abuse and don't think its at all better if its a large, non-cute animal, but that kind of behavior is certainly an outlier even in assholery :-| !

13. years ago, I lived next door to a kid who, until I moved there, had been
terrorizing the neighborhood animals. The day I encountered him, he was terrorizing a little kitten under my car. I hauled him up by his neck, and explained, in small words, that if I heard of a single animal being injured in any way in our neighborhood, I was going to hold him personally responsible, and break every single bone in his body.

don't know what happened after I left, but that was the end of the problem while I was there. (oh yeah, I also told the parent that if the kid did anything like that again, the parent would also suffer the same fate.) for some reason, they avoided me the rest of the time I was there. go figure!!

15. A neighborhood bully broke my family cat's tail when I was growing up.
Edited on Fri Sep-15-06 04:12 PM by AndyA
She was missing for days, and we were just sick about it. We thought we'd never see her again. Then one day, she came wobbling up to the door, with her tail hanging on the ground. She was in tremendous pain.

We rushed her to the vet, and her tail had to be amputated. It was a clean break, the vet said from the way the spine was broken, it looked like she'd been picked up by her tail and twirled! She looked like a Manx after that, but recovered fully although she had to learn how to walk again. Cats use their tails for balance.

We suspected who had done it, and my parents went down to have a chat with his parents, but there was no proof.

She was a great cat, and within a few weeks you'd have never known anything bad had happened to her. It's amazing what you can do with a little love.
