Bush Says Powell’s Criticism Is ‘Unacceptable’
Yesterday, Gen. Colin Powell sent a letter to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) sharply criticizing President Bush’s plan to establish military commissions. Powell wrote, “The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism. To redefine Common Article 3 would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk.”

During today’s press conference Bush said that criticism like Powell’s was “flawed logic” and “unacceptable.” Watch it:

2. Bwahaaha, Bush talking about Powell's flawed logic
that is really rich. Mr. Skewed Logic himself.

Even though I don't like Powell very much, I think it is rather amusing that he is now speaking out against the squatter.

3. Bush believes that he's Our Dictator NOW!
All he thinks he has to do is throw a tantrum and the Republican Congress will march in lock step. If they do, that will ensure their defeat in November's election.

Yes, The Incumbents with an R after their name are truly in a rock and a hard place. Are they willing to follow their MAD leader and NOT be re-elected or will these mostly chick-hawk politicians take a stand? Stay tuned. ;)

Transcript:

QUESTION: Mr. President, former Secretary of State Colin Powell says, The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism. If a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former secretary of state feels this way, don’t you think that Americans and the rest of the world are beginning to wonder whether you’re following a flawed strategy?

BUSH: If there’s any comparison between the compassion and decency of the American people and the terrorist tactics of extremists, it’s flawed logic. It’s just — I simply can’t accept that. It’s unacceptable to think that there’s any kind of comparison between the behavior of the United States of America and the action of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children to achieve an objective.

******

Yes Chimpy-the American people are decent, it's you and your tyrants that the world is questioning.

Bush Presser and Gregory
By: John Amato on Friday, September 15th, 2006 at 11:33 AM - PDT
Bush refused to accept Gregory’s question which is very relevant to the discussion about Article III. It was never vague before. As Ezra says,

This is by far the pissiest press conference Bush has given. He’s furious. I assume his feet are manacled behind the microphone. Otherwise, he’d be stalking across the stage, tearing apart the podium, and occasionally leaping into the crowd to rip out David Gregory’s heart…read on

16. I found this statement very odd:
"...the actions of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children an-uh-understan-uh-t-t- to achieve an objective".

He attached part the standard line his supporters use whenever some US action kills innocent civilians. You know, the whole 'we don't target civilians but things happen while trying to achieve the objective, you have to understand, etc., etc.'
