In a sense, the urgency with which the shrub is pushing the torture agenda
is encouraging.

I'm assuming the reason is that they must not feel they have enough control over vote counting to insure continued one party rule after NOV.

Democratic Congressional majorities mean the possibility of actual inquiries into war crimes and torture, murder etc. that have already happened, not to mention where all the unaccounted for billions of dollars from Iraq Coalition Provisional Authority etc. have gone.

So the urgency is to pass legislation to absolve shrubco and its members, both retroactively and into the future, of any war crimes, torture, crimes against humanity which they are already responsible for in the past, and going forward.

The fact that they actually seem concerned, and truly seem interested in pushing something through before NOV offers a bit of encouragement that all may not be lost.

Let's get out there and work and vote!

in their vote stealing - do they risk getting caught?

I'll guess that they will do it in states where they KNOW they can get away with it - like South Carolina, ALabama, California, Texas, Indiana - and maintain enough seats so they won't need to concern themselves with a Dem House.

I actually look to seats like John Spratt's to be stolen because Dems aren't worried enough. The GOP will get EVERY religious voter to the polls in those states. Bet on it.

3. Bush Desperate/High-Pitched Voice
His remarks this morning reminded me of the first debate with Kerry, where Kerry shredded him so thoroughly that Bush started foaming at the mouth, and screaming.

Old lesson from college speech class: beware the male politician whose voice accelerates up into its upper register. Adult males are socialized to express power by LOWERING their voices. When Bushie starts moving upward in pitch, he's more desperate.

Think of what this guy is looking at if the Dem's take the House. Subpoenas start flying on January 4th, as soon as the committees are formed.

He's afraid, and he's showing it. He's DESPERATE to hold onto both houses of Congress. DESPERATE.
