Yes, the midterm will favor Democrats.

No, Republicans will hold on strong.

2. Despite a hail of negative ads, Democrats will flip the U.S. House.
And we have improved our chances in the Senate. The GOP is in a very weak position, as witnessed on Tuesday in Rhode Island, where they are dumping money to help Senator Chafee, who voted to oppose the President's Iraq War.

Public sentiment is not with the president and any GOP shill is seen as suspect.

I think that will be reflected in the polls in November.

9. Funny, around here the negative ads backfired
Edited on Fri Sep-15-06 09:23 AM by Warpy
Heather Wilson (R-Cow) started ads in late July and started them nasty and negative. At that point, she was considered by pundits to be a sure thing for another term.

Well, a month down the line, surprise surprise, the election was being called a tossup.

Her ads are now treacly sweet, calling herself a moderate, touting herself as BUCKING the administration (funny from a rubber stamp). Good gawd!

The Governor is running Hollywood type ads now, no doubt aided by the film companies he's brought into NM, and his ads are pretty funny, not a negative word to be found, poking fun at himself while touting his successes. I can see nothing but a huge increase in his popularity from them.

Maybe nasty, negative advertising has run its course. I sincerely hope so. I haven't turned the set to anything on any network for a month (except for local weather) because of the barrage of hate and lies.

11. O that would be such a good turn of fate -- to be rid of negative
ads.

They destroy the spirit of discourse from the word 'go'.

I wouldn't miss 'em one bit.

5. No...oil prices sway people more than other issues
Or at least they sway 5-10% of the population to the point where they'll thank the Republicans for lower oil prices.

15. I thought so till I saw the lastest MO Senate race Poll.
Last time I saw it basically a dead heat between Talent and McCaskill. Jim "Whatever Bush wants" Talent, SS Privatize, cut PBS budget, didn't see a rich mans tax cut he didn't like. The guy is neocon scum, yet he has now pulled even with McCaskill.
