WHY is capturing Osama NOT a Top Priority for bush?

Summary: Fred Barnes reported that President Bush told him that capturing Osama bin Laden is not "a paramount goal of the war on terror." But Barnes gave no indication that the comments he reported appear to conflict with Bush's repeated, public pledges to stay on the trail of bin Laden. Will other members of the media probe this apparent discrepancy?
As the weblog Think Progress noted, Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes reported in his September 13 column that President Bush told him in a recent meeting in the Oval Office that capturing Osama bin Laden is not "a paramount goal of the war on terror." Barnes reiterated on the September 14 edition of Fox News Live that Bush said sending U.S. Special Forces into "the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan" to capture bin Laden is "not a top priority use of American resources." But as recently as September 11, Bush said of U.S. efforts to capture bin Laden, "o matter how long it takes, America will find you, and we will bring you to justice." Barnes gave no indication that the comments he reported Bush made appear to contradict Bush's repeated pledges to stay on the trail of bin Laden until he is captured. Will other members of the media probe this apparent discrepancy?

This statement by bush yesterday, although not new, is stunning considering the timing and the tenor of all the terra speeches lately in which the evil one's name is repeated quite a bit. Again bush is publicly stating that while it would be swell and keen to capture Osama, its not really a pressing issue to him or his masters.

One has to wonder why. Its almost as if they DON'T see him as a suspect anymore, and almost as if they know he's in Pakistan getting a tan, almost as if they know that he didn't do nine eleven, but that would be a ridiculous theory at best, I guess.

The fact that he says we're gonna git Osama dead or alive and then says he's not that important of a priority certainly STINKS.

Several reasons are always suggested: He's more valuable as a specter/fugitive than as a corpse or convict. The fear is ramped up higher knowing he's still out there, and fear is the number one motivating force from the government and populace these days.

He's dead, and all of the above. He's hiding knowing full well that he doesn't have to run, or he works for the bush family, and has it's full protection. See what we are constantly reduced to? Wild eyed theories are born from super secret governments.

2. I think Bush needs him to mark up the fear.
I think it sounded better to him than getting the man. I think Bush had guessed wrong but them he seems to be in other world where he thinks and I think.Frankly I think Bush has sort of united these terrorist world wide and more people are in the groups now because of Bush. ben Laden needs Bush as bad a Bush needs him. It is just us every day people that pay the price for these two nuts.

4. It's a puzzlement!
Bush has moved on from Osama's terrorism to GLOBAL terrorism. If he captured Osama, the mission would be accomplished to most Americans IMO. Then how would he justify his warmongering? Bin Laden is definitely more valuable as a bogeyman.

This whole rationale of "spreading democracy" gives me the willies. Only a madman would think to spread peaceful democracy by means of killing & torture -- the same sort of madman who would spread peaceful Christianity with crusades & inquisitions. What is he REALLY up to??

I don't understand the lack of outrage over his flip-flop on bin Laden.

5. The Cheerleader flew the Bin Laden family home to Saudi Arabia
to prevent any nosy questions from the FBI.

The Bin Ladens funded his oil company (Arbusto) and I'm sure that Bush doesn't want to lose the real money from them that he expects to see down the road.

I really believe that that is the #1 reason he never really went after Osama.

7. He doesn't want filthy bootprints on the rugs in the Crawford guest house
Laura will be angry, she spent weeks decorating the joint.

And really, there was no better line after an "evildoer killing" than "Uday and Qusay are Ead-Day."

It just cannot be topped.

8. Oh, Bush DOES care about Bin Laden.
Every year about election time Bin Laden mysteriously produces another of his video tapes that the Corporate Media is all too happy to play for the American people, ad nauseum, for a few news cycles. Bush NEEDS Bin Laden. He NEEDS to pull the bogeyman out of mothballs at strategic times to ramp up the fear level of complacent Americans. And it works! It has ever since 9/11 anyway and there's no reason to think they won't go that that well once again. I expect that around the end of October there will be either another attack on American soil or another video tape released by Bush's favorite wing-man, Bin Laden.

Call it a hunch. :eyes:

9. I see a blown up corpse in our future
Like they did supposedly with Zarqawi, breathless headlines, OSAMA KILLED IN AIR RAID! and the CIA is confirming that yes, these body parts are definitely the evil Osama, officially and literally, bush got him, dead or alive, his bloody face plastered all over the world.

It worked before.

10. Because he is more concerned about revoking the rights of US citizens
As the bu$h family is long time friends with the bin Ladens he already knows where Osama sleeps.

But Osama is not part of the PNAC agenda whereas the consumption of the middle class and converting the country to totalitarian rule is. The only way they can achieve these is to concentrate on stealing our wealth (what little we may have) and to nullify the Constitution

11. The Bin Laden Family has the dirt on the Bushes!
That is why he will never be captured. That is why the Bin Laden family members were flown out of the Country en masse on 9/13 2001 when all other air traffic was grounded!

12. Mainly, it's because pissypants Republicans are more afraid of
Nancy Pelosi than they are of Osama bin Forgotten ... note how much time, money, and effort they're using to attack N.P., instead of having the Young Republicans drop out of college and enlist like the little patriots they claim they are ...

14. Timing is everything
...and everything has its time.
When it becomes apparent to the thugs that America has tuned them out, watch for major news regarding bin Laden.
They have him in safekeeping, so to speak - (I don't beleive that he's in custody), ready to mount an all-out search and capture when they need it the most.
That's if bin Laden is still alive!
