AAR Attornys Order The Site Of Randi's Archieves To Be Shut Down
anyone hear this yet?

"I have been ordered by the attorneys at Air America Radio to shut down this site. I am going to keep an eye on that other site archiving the Randi Rhodes Show and see if he has to take her off his site as well. If he does, then I will be offline for good. If he is allowed to continue his site, then I will resurrect this one. Thank you for more than THREE YEARS of support. We were around before Air America was a load in Sheldon Drobny's pants. We helped bring Randi to you and to the world when she was just a local host on a medium sized South Florida radio station. Apparently helping get her name out to people, and her becoming the STAR of Liberal Radio was only good until they figured out how to make money from her archived shows. So this week will be the final week of this archive. It was a great run while it lasted. First malloy, now us. We're “fired.” "

5. thanks for the information
I try to keep away from the I/P threads, because... well, I'll just let it go at that. But he posted a lot of interesting non-political stuff, such as this link:

8. hey nutmegger--what do you think the objective is here?
that air america wants all archived shows off the internet so we have to pay for the premium crap? i know they need some money--but don't we all all? hell, isn't that what limbaugh does to his audience? you have to pay & sign up for archives of his show? bla.

i checked on white rose to see if ben had any such announcement up, but i didn't see one.

4. Sounds like the lawyers, accountants and bankers...
...are calling the shots now, so we can kiss goodbye to 'liberal' radio. Corporatism is corporatism, no matter how you dress it up.

13. torrent
How does one offer torrents?

I can get word to the archives guy and see if he can set it up. He told me in an email that he will continue to record the shows, and will look for another way to offer them.. Torrent may be the way to go.

Any information you can get to me to give to him (her?) would be appreiated.

Thanks!

Huck

15. meh, i expect to be digging around like everyone else...
it's a freakin' radio show... this "hyper-patenting" of everything is idiotic. people've been passing rec'd cassettes of radio shows since forever -- well, i'm young, so "forever" to me. it's only good publicity. it'd be stupid to lock this stuff down. what're they gonna do, offer DVD sets of randi episodes? it's freakin ephemera, it's shelf life is mere days, if that, and only special shows make it past regular circulation. if AAR is this hard up to dick around with this bullshit then they've obviously been spending too much money in their lawyers as well as their management. they don't advertise enough, but they're gonna harass sites like this? stupid, stupid, stupid. well, piss off people enough and criminalize every little thing and eventually everything becomes illegal and the black market becomes the legit market. this idea is beyond stupid, and if i was owner i'd fire the people who recommended this, the lawyer who actively pursued this, and a few other sycophants for making me waste my time.

just venting. sometimes life is like an eternal high school... only the shit-for-brains have the control and we're all just waiting to either get away from them or for these damnable "beautiful people" to finally die off in a DUI from the prom. i'm seriously starting to get so over this land; anarchy at times feels like it would be better.

16. whoops! guess i wanted to speak more of this
right now i don't know how to make torrents. but i doubt it'd be all that hard. there's probably a few sites on the web to tell you how. all i thnk you'd need is a way to get the file into digitized format and then search for a good peer-to-peer locale to spread the lovin'. transition from mp3 to whatever torrent file shouldn't be much of an issue.

14. what did they do???? WLS fired him b/c he was 'too strong' for
the audience.

This despite the fact he was the no 1 show in his time slot in Chicago with NO advertising by WLS.
