Send google a message that you will no longer use their search engine as a reward for their supporting Heather Wilson in the 2006 election.

I'm going to find another search engine to use.

1. I want to wait to see who else they support with their new PAC.
Maybe they will support more Democrats overall.

3. Dan Senor, consults for Google and election stealing enabler Ben Ginsberg
also works for Google.

I just emailed google telling them that I'm telling thousands of Democrats on the net to stop using google and to find another search engine.

Or think they are going to be in power for a while...

Or are just plain worried that they will get hit with high taxes when the Dem's take over...

Sigh, there goes Silicon Valley.... right up the poop shoot of the GOP....

9. Try...
Yahoo.com
Ask.com
Altavista.com

And, my personal favorite for it's stab at mindmapping...

Kartoo.com

There are hundreds of others out there, too, but these are the ones I use most.

10. Whoa! Maybe they are going to the dark side, but before...
starting another boycott bandwagon let's see how this plays out. They're supporting Wilson partly because she's for net neutrality, which we're for, too. Not that that's a good reason for us to support her, but it's a priority for Google and everyone else on the web who doesn't own a pipeline.

Using their search, or even gmail, isn't a big deal one way or the other, but not clicking on their merchant ads or not buying their pay services might hurt if we really have to say something. Eamils questioning their priorities aren't a bad idea, but it still seems best to hold off the big guns until after the election and we see which way their wind blows.

11. Some good alternatives:
alltheweb - Excellent. Real name is "Fast" and it is! Clear and uncluttered
http://www.alltheweb.com/

Ask
http://www.ask.com/#subject:ask|pg:1

Dogpile - makes searching the Web easy, because it has all the best search engines piled into one.
http://www.dogpile.com/

Hotbot - Good. Directories and Search Engine
http://www.hotbot.com/

About - Good. Sites vetted by humans!

http://www.about.com/

Excite - Good. Directories and Search Engine
http://www.excite.com/

Complete Planet - Directs to various databases. Worth a try
http://aip.completeplanet.com/aip-engines/browse?thisPage=/browse/browse.jsp&successPage=/browse/browse.jsp&errorFlag=&errorMsg=&event=loadPageEvent&directPage=&directSection=4&treeQueryExpr=&treeQueryType=phrase&treeQueryTarget=tree&account=loc&username=dev2_040308

Alta Vista - Directories and Search Engine
http://www.altavista.com/

~~
Got most of these from "Search Thingy - Top Ten Search Engines." Of course Google is #1 and some of these search several search engines at once, and do include Google.

Lately, since hearing about Google's swing to the Right, I've been using Ask.com and Dogpile.com. Like them alot.

12. We need an anti-corporate search
One that's for personal and small business only. What the hell good is the internet if it's just one massive corporate showcase anyway.
