Starbucks Coffee Servers To Watch Travelers For 'Suspicious Movements'
Miami airport to train all 35,000 workers to spot suspicious people
By Ken Kaye

Passengers at Miami International Airport soon will be scrutinized by many sets of eyes, beyond federal security officers and police.

If officials have their way, all 35,000 of the airport's workers - including janitors, skycaps, even Starbucks coffee servers - will be trained to watch travelers for suspicious movements. At other airports, such training is typically limited to security and law enforcement officers, though Boston's Logan Airport has offered similar instructions to hundreds of ticket agents, curbside attendants and other workers.

Authorities at about a dozen airports around the country, including Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, are using "behavior pattern recognition" - monitoring passengers' actions and expressions in hopes of spotting terrorists. But Miami is to become the first airport in the nation where all employees will receive behavior recognition training to spot suspicious people or potential terrorists.

"Every employee who works around airport goes to the bathroom and goes to lunch, and wherever they are, they're going to be trained to recognize behavior that is suspicious," airport spokesman Greg Chin said.

6. "…trained to recognize behavior that is suspicious…"
But isn't that all human endeavor, since no one can truly know the heart and mind of another?

I hope Miami Security is braced for a deluge of "sightings" and the Airport's lawyers geared for the inevitable lawsuits…

7. Now we can't complain about anything ANYWHERE in the airport.
I already knew better than to display any humor or disatisfaction while going through security. Now I can't discuss current events or politics, let alone make a crack about Bush, etc., anywhere in the airport. This sounds like some novel set in Russia in the 50's - where everyone was spying on everyone else, and kids were urged to turn in their parents.

And, on top of that the bosses try to turn you into a Homeland Security agent. Oh yeah, these are gunna' be some highly motivated workers.

(The bathroom workers can tell the Arabs because they use their left hand to wipe their ass -- no toilet paper, of course.)

12. where are the ros-lehtinen and diaz-balarts? this airport snooping is a
page taken directly from Castro's Cuba and his COMITE DE BARRIO. the ros-lehtinen and diaz-balart types have a lot to say about Castro's repressive measures. why aren't they saying anything about bush's homeland security repressive measures? i suppose that for them a dictatorship is allright as long as it is a dictatorship from the right.

13. Just fucking great.

brownshirts indeed. Dark green "smockies" running around and reporting on "fellow travelers".

Expect more incidents like the gunning down of a mentally ill passenger in Miami.

I feel like dustin hoffman... "Is it SAFE yet???"
