OK, Wellstone is gone....Richards is gone...
I don't have any heroes left. Any suggestions?

Geez, people like that just don't come along very often, do they?

Kerry...Edwards...H. Clinton...sure, I'll vote for these people over Republicans, but they sure don't inspire me. They are just talking heads to me.

2. i don't mind sayng that I'm an anti-corruption, open government Democrat
so I DO have Dem heroes left.

They may not speak in a way you prefer for your ears, but their dogged relentlessness is inspiring to me. Kerry and Waxman have been outstanding in their duties and Conyers. Kucinich, Waters and Lee have been admirable. The late Paul Wellstone, Henry Gonzalez and Joe Moakley get special salutes.

8. I'm not a 'hero' kinda person, but I truly admire Dr. Helen Caldicott,
Edited on Thu Sep-14-06 07:39 PM by tnlefty
author of many books "The New Nuclear Danger" being her latest. She isn't a politician, but she is an outspoken advocate of the dangers of all things nuclear. What I admire about her is simply that no matter how long the fight, nor how hard she never gives up. She is still speaking out to this day! She can't run for office here as she is Australian, but if you're looking for politicians may I offer up the following for your consideration: John Conyers, Barbara Lee, Dennis Kucinich, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman, John Lewis, Kendrick Meek especially when he teams up with Debra Wasserman-Schutz (sp?), Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Sen. Kennedy, and there are so many others. They are out there just look and find them! :hi:

The man speaks the truth in a very folksy, down-to-earth style. Is a disciple of Wellstone.

There's also Dennis Kucinich. I like the guy's energy.

11. Look in mirror
be your own hero

IMO, The reason this nation is where it is because so many morons found a moron hero in bu$h. I don't have any hero's or idols.
You can still look up to people and respect them but never make one a hero.

16. We ALL gotta set up and...
...BE OUR OWN "HERO"!!!!!!!

Just like how Jello Biafra said "Don't hate the media...BE THE MEDIA"!

5 to 1, they got the "guns" but WE got the numbers! Ok, fine, so they can microwave us, gee, whatever, like THAT wouldn't be noticed?! Just goes to show how sick and depreved the people WHO WORK FOR US (and NOT the OTHER way around) are and how DESPERATE they are. Well, hopefully this midterm election, people won't wussy out, they'll go out and vote in such number that even DIEbold can't fix it! Just think, could Ned Lemont have been the 1st to show these DIEbold clowns "Oh shit! They clowned us out! How are we going to rig an election to cover THAT wide a margine?" Just sayin'...and hopin'...
