3. ah,excellent EXCELLENT post.
I actually feel choked up looking at this.Very inspiring.Thank you!

I've contributed funds to candidates and for advertising and this weekend I am going to make up 500 copies of bulleted points of what is going on in the country and distribute them.

I wish there were a protest or march going on here.I really feel the need to DO something important.

10. It can get a little discouraging
Fighting for candidates who don't fight for themselves.

15. I'm feeling a bit more positive since I made the post
but here's a few of the things that put me in those moods:
Nationally- Democrats do a poor job presenting themselves and democratic values in the televised media, which is sadly where most people get their news. They let themselves get put on the defensive, get shouted down and don't call out the outright lies and biases of the 'pundits'. I've watched very little tv 'news' since 2004, but when i do the Democratic reps usually suck, plain and simple. When they're asked what their alternative is to the repugs, they prevaricate and speak in vagaries, reinforcing the 'Democrats don't really have a plan' meme. I can write all the complaints to CNN and MSNBC i want, but when most of the party spokespeople don't speakup effectively, i have to wonder sometimes if it's worth the trouble.

Locally- things finally seem to be starting to gear up based on a few emails i got today after my post, but up till now all i've seen the candidates doing is preaching to the choir. They're all going up against longtime republican incumbents, and i've seen little to no activity on their part all summer to get any name and position recognition outside of the party loyalists. Meet the Candidate barbeques, cocktail parties and appearances at town Democratic picnics is fine for raising funds, but why couldn't they write some op-eds and ltte's for the local papers instead of relying on others to do so independently on their behalf? Why not take a beach walk to introduce themselves personally to the unaffiliateds and get some press? Neither would cost them anything but some time and effort.

I better stop now before i get myself into a funk again

12. Well look at it as "Fighting for yourself" instead,
if that will help you do what you've got to do.

Bottomline is don't fight or do. Which will it be? cause it's your call as to whether you will bother or not.

14. What I Do
Im a college student with a pretty full social calandar, but I have 50 Impeach Bush bumper stickers that Im slowly putting up around camppus, whenever i have a moment or two. I have to battle the rednecks here though who rip them down. Its so gratifying to see them around and to know I did it, and Im getting a message out.
