Can't miss TV tonight - Survivor
There may be a bit of controversy surrounding the race grouping, but that could turn out to be another in a series of brilliant twists.

The absolute best reality show on TV. Actually, the best show period. I can't wait.

shows like that are examples of why our culture is such crap

these phony 'reality' shows are a symptom of the dumbing down of America

8. There is nothing phony about Survivor
Remember when that woman peed on that guy that got stung by a jellyfish? An ultimate survival tactic that I will never forget. It is impossible to script that sort of action.

12. Out of Curiosity
Are you aware of any actual research that has shown that phony reality shows are doing anything to dumb down America? Or do you think that it's popular only because people are already dumbed down? In which case what is the harm in watching it? Do you have any sources which point to it being harmfull, or do you only have anecdotal evidence and 'gut' feeling?

21. There's plenty of room in the brain to take in both high and low culture.
It's only people who are nervous about their ability to tell the difference who have to condemn low culture, and feel they must convince other people that it will somehow endanger their intellect.

6. Everybody on "Survivor" knows the drill
you got the villian, the hotties, the worm, the good guy, the jock, the grandfather, ect.

I hate the idea of seperating people by race which seems to be what those in control of this country today want and shows like "Survivor" by doing this are helping.

"off" the island. Would YOU want to be the one who "stiffed" an alliance, then have to go home to face your neighborhood?

Think about it. The previous "divisions" were sex and age. Everybody is in intimate contact with people of the opposite sex and of different ages. This isn't necessarily the case with race. I don't think this particular version, with it's divisive possibilities is a good idea.

10. Your opinion, of course.
I cannot stand any so-called "reality show" and this includes the women on Oprah who, yesterday, pretended to be katherine Harris, pusghing their - what was their names? Moxy and Godd Luck - in front of everyone.

OK, I was in the gym and was not listeneing but that TV monitor was in the middle, right in my face. I suppose there is more than one way to raise one's heart beat in the gym.

17. Survivor
Oh, yes, my TiVo is on. Love the show and to "quote" "quote" NYCGirl, sort of: "All work and no play makes TheFriedPiper" a dull boy. Now you wouldn't want that would you. Let go for an hour or so and have fun watching a bunch of people try to win a million dollars --- how harmless is that and I don't feel any dumber after watching Survivor but I always feel dumber after watching George Bush --- oh, dear!

18. I love Survivor but am on the fence about this new twist.
Frankly, Survivor hasn't been all that great since Rupert & Johnny Rotten and also the All Stars with Rob!

19. I have to disagree.
If you keep tuning into this cheap programming, you lessen your chances of getting quality programming in the future. Also, the "contestants" take work from actors who work for scale. Don't feed the Republican downsizing of wages by watching that trash.

in America than reality tv. I personally am watching it and think the format will be interesting. I am proud of my heritage and am sure the contestants on the show are also. What separates us brings us together. The tribes will eventually merge int one. What will happen then?

Edited to correct spelling, wouldn't want to appear dumb.
