2. I probably haven't seen them all. Had to make dinner. But there are
lots of disappointedAAR listeners out here, including ME, who are so disappointed that we may lose AAR...even the stream!

The only bright spot I read here a while ago was someone who said AAR has created a following and very well may be bought by some other radio network like Jones or Clear Chanel. Those folks know how to run a radio network and could make it a real success. I've had my fingers crossed ever since reading that!!!

3. Clear Channel
is a thoroughly right-wing operation. Even if they bought it, they'd water it down.

7. Clear Chanel IS RW, but before that, they want MONEY!!!!
I have no idea what the financials of AAR look like. I've read about the millions they were forced to pay some stations in Calif. for back rent and they agreed to pay it over a period of time. I also have no idea what other debts they have, but ifsome or most of that could be made to go away via a bancruptcy, I honestly think they can make a lot of money. If Clear Chanel smells a money maker, believe me, that will trump their politics!

14. Progressive talk is a great idea. I've nearly listened to it nonstop since
AAR has been on. The AAR management is the problem. At least they have jettisoned Springer. That's a step in the right direction. Young Turks is on board.

They need to do more with Hartmann and Stephanie Miller (not owned by AAR, but should be) Or, as you say, those who manage Stephanie should manage AAR.

5. We will never lose AAR. We will support them first and foremost
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 06:30 PM by jhuth
above anything here at our house.

Consider the results of Conservative radio dominance before AAR. Conseravtive radio has destroyed the America I loved. AAR is a tool for us to heal our nation. I think it is absolutely that important.

We will perservere, because truth perserveres.

The end DOES NOT justify the means, because the end is perverse and tainted. The Republicans have been forced to be corrupt, because * is. They will pay.

9. trolls? ummmmm, nooooooo ...
i posted an AAR thread earlier today in GDP ...

i've been called all sorts of things on DU ... i am not a troll ...

the source for the AAR story i posted, and i noticed it was the source for a number of other posts on the subject, was this website: http://thinkprogress.org/

i have no idea what their source was ...

if you read the "think progress" website, i'm sure you'll see that they are anything but trolls ... in fact, they've updated their original article to include a statement from AAR indicating that no decision has been made to file for bankruptcy ...

nevertheless, it seems pretty clear that a major restructuring is needed at AAR and that they are having some financial problems ...

this does not seem like "troll" activity to me ...

11. Didn't Mean You or Your Post
And don't think Catwoman was talking about ordinary posts, but negative posts about AAR. I assume those posts would be from Trolls, or Freepers stiring up trouble. I would never consider your post negative rather objective.

You are assuming I mean any post about AAR's situation... I do not.

15. appreciate that, stepnw1f
i knew you weren't referring to any specific post ...

the point i was trying to make was that DU'ers often toss around the troll label when it's not necessarily accurate ... sometimes even DU'ers have a conservative view on an issue or perhaps are they're just ill-informed ... it's not always as sinister as some would have you believe ...

thanks for the follow-up, though ... it's appreciated ...

12. If they go Chapter 11
they will still be able to operate. Just need to restructure debt and raise more money. I think they will do it. Much ado about nothing.(I hope).

10. Not Sure What You Mean
I see a lot of upset, disappointed people, and some constructive criticism, but I haven't seen the threads that are "negative" about Air America. It's not a good thing that AAR may declare bankruptcy. Yes, they will continue to broadcast, but bankruptcy by definition is not something to be overjoyous about.

17. make them rething their business decisions, which is being done now.
Wasn't there two models that they considered. Offering a la carte programming to stations as one option and as a second, purchasing stations and putting all of their programming on it.

I think #1 is better. If they've been doing #2, then maybe they've been held up getting the programming on more stations.

16. It's not negative. It's called news.
I don't want AAR to go under but its not some sort of betrayal to our ideology to admit they are in financial trouble. Lets not be like the rethugs and bury our heads in the sand.
