Check out this Shite
http://ibackups.net/

Do not post full articles. Provide a link and a snippet and that is fair use. These monsters are going to extremes here. This poor bastard is going into the can for a long time because of it. I'm losing my country little by little and my other country Canada is heading that way as well but not as fast.

This has to be stopped. How? I don't know the real answer execpt to get these evil bastards out of office and sent to world court for conviction. Impeachment is just a slap on the wrist.

1. What toasts my tamale is that...
...the State is using the flimsy excuse of "protecting artists' rights" to justify slamming the lid on the very freedom of expression the Internet was designed to accomodate. Never mind that the "artists" who are being protected are those ones who occupy the executive suites of big media companies and donate large amounts to political parties. Never mind that 99% of the actual artists who created the materials being shared on sites like iBackups sold their rights for about a nickel.

The "intellectual property" advocates never seem to make the leap from protecting the legitimate rights of creative individuals to protecting the legitimate rights of those who consume their work. The message from government is clearly, "you may buy this and listen/read/watch it, but you may not show it to anyone else and may never speak of it again."

2. what exactly did ibackups.net do wrong?
I "get" that they committed copyright infringement, as stated in Big Brother's message, but in what way? What kind of site was ibackups.net?

4. According to reports I've seen...
...they were selling 'pirated' copies of software for discount prices. So you could buy M$ Windows for twenty bucks or so. This is why they got hit so hard; what they were doing was more overtly illegal than simple filesharing, and they were profiting from the activity.
