Bob Schieffer CBS "Free Speech" commentary totally rocked
A democracy shouldn't be torturing people if we're trying to win the hearts and minds of the world's people.

We didn't beat the Soviets with missles. We kept them at bay with missiles. We beat them when the people finally realized the values of our system and rose up against theirs.

Really nice.

11. No. Rush only made it worse.
The basic premise of having the evening news consist of "free speech" and human interest pieces instead of real news about what's happening on the planet is what's awful.

7. Hmmm - doesn't sound very "perky" to me
schieffer better perk up his commentary if he wants to fit in with the "new" CBS news format.

9. He's done some really good ones. Gets on a roll sometimes.
The Soviets beat themselves.

Put all their treasury and effort into war.

Sound familiar??? Their example had such a fine ending, we decided to go the same way.

13. Did Keith Olbermann start a trend?
Are those who see his side of things finally going to start speaking out?

I especially like this part:

...all they wanted were better schools and washing machines. They saw that open government based on law gave them a better chance to have those things than government conducted in secret and based on the whims of unelected leaders ...

All I can say is, I sure hope the AMERICAN people see that this November.
