Woah, Dobbs sandbags the smirking moron
I was reading this thing a minute ago, blood pressure rising as he seemed to be blaming both parties for the disaster in Iraq. Until I got to the end. Or rather, the very last sentence. Check it out.

"The American people cannot be reasonably asked by this president or this secretary of defense to "stay the course" without evidence of a strategy to successfully prosecute the war and defeat the radical Islamist enemy. Otherwise, why are we there? The loyal opposition on Capitol Hill cannot reasonably ask the American people to elect them without articulating a clear new direction and offering a concrete plan for victory. Otherwise, why do we even have a loyal opposition?

Both the White House and Congress should be demanding accountability from our generals who have failed so far to succeed in destroying our enemies. Not a single general has been fired for failing to lead our men and women to victory against the insurgencies of Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe it is time for all Americans -- Republicans, Democrats and Independents -- to demand such accountability.

I, for one, do not want to hear another of our generals urge the American people to be patient. Patience favors the enemy. And our generals have the responsibility to our brave troops and this nation to deliver certain victory, and that responsibility rests first and foremost with the commander in chief."

2. Demanding accountability from the Generals ?
How 'bout those same Generals demanding accountability from the Chickenshit Asshawks at 1600 that pushed them into this 'war' despite so many of them saying "it ain't gonna work" ??

7. PATIENCE???
I don't think it's unreasonable of all Americans to expect this conflict to be over in less time than America's ENTIRE INVOLVEMENT IN WW2!

Or are we going to start measuring progress in "Viet-Nam years" instead of normal calender years?

If this plods along like the terrible Viet Nam fiasco, we won't be out of there until I've been retired for 10 years, and I'm 52 years old!

4. Dobbs, it's NOT the generals--it's the Bush leadership
They got rid of the generals who told them their plan wouldn't work

6. That's what he's saying...
Responsibility lies with the commander in chief. And we know who THAT is.

5. You know he's right.
I'm sick and tired of all these people playing politics with fear and the various wars in which our nation is now engaged.

8. Me thinks! plenty of blame to go around.
I'm about half way through Fiasco by T. Ricks, and according to Ricks the blame goes from the WH to the pentagon. Gen. Franks had no plan for after the fall of Saddam, the WH gang thought it would be a cake walk after Saddam was knocked off and never demanded a plan for after combat.

But this is all old news, we've all known that that Iraq has been bungled. But the responsibility is all George's, but if you have time to read Fiasco i'd recommend it.

9. I saw Ricks on McLaughlin on Sunday
He was great, and it was shocking to see McLaughlin going after Bush, Cheney, Franks, Rummy and even Powell. I mean, you would have thought the old goat was a democrat.

I'm on my way to Mass. on Friday to take my kid to her new school, and plan to buy it on the way. Books like that are MADE for airplanes, where you can concentrate.

11. Mclaughlin going after the cabal, thats refreshing.
Rick's goes after the politicians he doesn't pull many punches, but he cuts the military some slack,i'm sure he wants to keep his lines of communications open to the pentagon.

Like i said i get P.O'ed reading this book, the incompetence in overwhelming. It's like they never wanted to win in Iraq, they just wanted in.

10. Lou, don't worry about the loyal opposition: it is being marginalized,
demonized, traitorised, painted as emboldening the terraists.
