Reply From ABC Advertiser
September 13, 2006

Dear Mr. Churchman,

Thank you for your note expressing your thoughts about advertising on ABC
network television. It is important to clarify that we do not determine
our media buying patterns based on interest group pressure, but rather on
whether the media placement opportunity will help us sell more of our
products. We regularly look at the mix of ads that will help us reach the
right audience for our products. While we did not happen to have any ads
scheduled to run during the particular show you cite, our future decisions
about placements will continue to be based on what we believe works best
for selling our products.
ConAgra Foods prides itself on bringing products to market that are
wholesome, nutritious, and tasty. Thank you again for your note.

Sincerely,
ConAgra Foods Consumer Affairs

My reply

Dear Sir,
Since the 'interest group' I represent is the American people I guess we'll just
have to start boycotting your products. American Airlines is an example you
might want to follow - they are seriously looking at BOTH pulling their
advertising from ABC as well as possible legal action for libel.

Hope you enjoy your loss of sales,

Daniel Churchman
Leesburg, GA

Probably won't do any good - but it made me feel better.

3. If it were a right wing
interest group doing the complaining they would be tripping over each other heading for the doors.

It really gets me when they call groups representing the American people interest groups like they do with labor unions. Doesn't anyone get what it is that they are saying when they do that, it's us they don't want to hear from but the business lobbies are just fine.

They know that because there's no such think as "investigative journalism" in America, neither them or companies associated with them will EVER be held to task.

In Dear Leader's present 1984 AMERICA "Crap is KING!

The peasants (non-investor classes) are fed spin, lies and distractions approved by the Pentagon brass and Rove's office. And most important = us mere HUMANS rate on the level of 2/3rds of ANY Corporation. I don't buy ANY of their products on a regular basis (if ever). Amazing, considering I can't cook, so I eat crap on a regular basis AND I was born and raised within an hour of their corporate headquarters.

I'm proud of me. Unfortunately, boycotting them won't do any good, since I never buy their shit anyway.

Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 03:32 PM by calipendence
I think they sell the Hebrew International dogs for the $1.50 combo special. Will have to get a slice of pizza and a smoothie instead.

Given that Costco is a blue company, I wonder if we could pressure them into putting a different brand of hot dog with their special instead. Might be worth a try! That might be a big hit for Conagra in sales if Costco were to switch to another brand for that special.

Great sentence here:

And I resent implications that people like myself and Mr. Churchman are nothing more than an interest group to you. (emph. added)

Because it really points out how Big Business(TM) has taken on the attitude that consumers serve them, not the other way around. I applaud your boycott.

ConAgra Brand Chef Boyardee Pulls Ads from Dr. Laura

September 29, 2000

LOS ANGELES, FRIDAY, SEPT. 29, 2000 -- In a statement issued today, food brand Chef Boyardee (owned by food manufacturing giant ConAgra) informed the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) that it has withdrawn its ads from TV's Dr. Laura. "We understand the concerns of the members of GLAAD regarding the Dr. Laura television program and for that reason, the Chef Boyardee brand is pulling its ads from the Dr. Laura program," the statement reads.
