Newt Gingrich Insists Congress Pass Legislation That Says We Are In WW 3
Neo-con favorite declares World War III
By Jim Lobe

WASHINGTON - Two years before the 2008 presidential election, Newt Gingrich, the former Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, is trying desperately to grab the national spotlight by declaring he'd be a lot tougher than George W Bush in prosecuting what he calls "World War III".

In the latest in a series of recent presentations and writings, Gingrich called this week in a speech at the neo-conservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI) for, among other things:

<snip>

Insist that Congress immediately pass legislation "that recognizes that we are entering World War III and serves notice that the US will use all its resources to defeat our enemies - not accommodate, understand or negotiate with them, but defeat them".

Gingrich's remarks, which significantly earned a rave review in the neo-conservative Weekly Standard, came in the context of early jockeying in the 2008 presidential race, whose leading - albeit unannounced - candidates besides Gingrich include Arizona Senator John McCain, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Virginia Senator George Allen, and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

10. Newt Gingrich is so clsoe to Joseph McCarthy, he even talks like him
<snip to scroll to>

March 9, 2004: McCarthy on 'See It Now'
Fifty years ago, one of the most influential news programs in television history aired. It was on CBS-TV, and produced by Fred Friendly and Edward R. Murrow. Part of the series See It Now, hosted by Murrow, it was a report on Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy and his campaign to root out "unpatriotic" Americans. Cronkite remembers the occasion as the night network television shook off its timidity and called the bluff of a bully.

13. That about sums it up
and Gingrich would come across as a better front man which is a pretty wicked scenarion. I forget where I read it but of all these Repub. psycopaths it is McCain who is actually the most likely to go ballistic. He is suppose to be one really bizarre character. And they all seem so chummy on the Sunday AM news tour.

12. Well, he is on Wife No. III, so why not a war?
Probably the same thing in Newtie's household...

Personal life
Many critics of Gingrich has noted that while his party hammered President Bill Clinton over the Lewinsky scandal, that Gingrich himself had a history of questionable personal conduct.

In 1981 Gingrich reportedly informed his first wife, Jackie Battley, that he wanted a divorce just as she had received a diagnosis of cancer. Gingrich and Marianne Ginther were married months later.

Also, during the very time of the Lewinsky scandal, Gingrich was having an extramarital sexual affair with Callista Bisek, a scheduling and assistant hearing clerk on his staff who is 23 years his junior. The affair reportedly began well before Gingrich assumed the speakership in 1994, and continued through his divorce from his wife, Marianne Ginther Gingrich, in 1999. Reportedly, Gingrich's fellow Republicans knew he was engaged in the extramarital relationship and used that knowledge to ease him out of the speakership.

According to the Washington Post, in late 1999, Gingrich reportedly telephoned Marianne in Ohio during Marianne's mother's birthday party to inform her that he "didn't want as his wife any more." There was controversy as to whether Gingrich knew whether his wife had a neurological condition that might be a "forerunner of multiple sclerosis." <1>

On second thought: It appears Ms. Bisek was just acting as his "love receptacle" so she may not actually qualify as "Ms. Gingrich, III"

15. Per Wikipedia,
Newt married Callista Bisek one year after the divorce from wife number two. I don't see him having a ghost of a chance to win the Republican presidential nomination. The other candidates will nail him for his marital history, as they will jump all over Rudy Giuliani for his marital escapades.

have Democrats hit the jackpot? I hope he runs because nobody could do better in the primaries and worse in November!

only Newt would publicly brag that he wants WWIII and still expect to win! Republicans are insane, but we need someone who can make this insanity kristal clear for the voters in 08...whoops, did I mean crystal? the only Democrats who could now lose against Newt Gingrich would be Democrats who wanted to lose! Man, how I miss both Dan Quayle and Newt

19. I was in process of composing this LTTE on World War 3
The latest spin out of Team Bush, the Republican Congress, and their cast of thousands in the media, is that we are in the middle of World War 3 and that Iraq is the central front in this new war, with the future of Western Civilization, and freedom itself, at risk before the greatest enemy the world has ever known.

If this is true, then I have some questions for Neoconservatives like Cheney, Rumsfeld and Lieberman.

If we are truly in the middle of World War 3 and the fate of America is at stake, why has our nation not been fully mobilized for the war? Why are we trying to fight World War 3 on the cheap with only 130,000 soldiers in Iraq while Afghanistan slips further into the hands of the Taliban? Where is this generation’s Harry Truman to lead Congressional investigations into war profiteering? Why does Paris Hilton need an estate tax cut in the midst of this great struggle?

If George Bush were truly serious about winning what Neocons are now branding World War 3, we should bring back the draft to increase the size of our military, turn whole industries over to the war effort so our soldiers won’t be without bullets and body armor like they too often are now, raise the top tax rates up to the World War 2 level of 90% so we can pay for the war, and start real investigations into anti-American war profiteering at companies like Halliburton. We should also start rationing critical items like gasoline and steel.

Then, maybe we can bring a Pax America to Iraq with another 500,000 soldiers there, send another 250,000 to A

Otherwise, anybody selling the Iraqi civil war as World War 3 is just trying to scare our nation into forgetting the lies, crony capitalism and utterly incompetent bumbling that have become the hallmarks of our Middle East policy. Today, we are a superpower in name only, with less credibility around the world than Baghdad Bob, not even able to defeat a “few dead-enders” in the “last throes” of an insurgency, despite spending hundreds of billions of dollars and having thrown away the lives of nearly 2,700 young men and women.

28. In fact
that is one of the large-scale dirty truths in all of this. And if you can keep the folks at home focused on "The Other" manufactured external enemy they won't see how they are being fleeced by the Robber Barons. And that is a large part of the endless war, hasn't America always been at war, a colossal transfer of wealth to the wealthy.

And we desperately need the energy resources to prop up our Junkie of an economic system. West Africa will be the next hot spot.

27. Then it's not really war
"that recognizes that we are entering World War III and serves notice that the US will use all its resources to defeat our enemies - not accommodate, understand or negotiate with them, but defeat them".

So we are going to wage war against enemy <blank>. We won't try to understand them, accomodate or negotiate with them. Heck we won't even name them. So how are we going to defeat them. Given Newts plan the only mean to defeat them is to kill everyone. That's some good thinking there Newt.

We didn't give up the Constitution in World War Two. But they're aching to shut down democracy now.

War is not something to be proud of. It's not something to desire. And it certainly doesn't deserve a name before it happens. World War Three, Shock and Awe. These are phony names for nonexistent wars.

They live in alternate universes, these people. As long as they don't ever experience the business end of a gun, they're aggressive.
